what's so confusing about the title? it's the movie version of Avatar. :)

There is a certain other recently released high-profile movie called Avatar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar_(2009_film)). That is the confusion.

Yeah, that's why I was confused too.  If you'd included The Last Airbender in the title...

I think Bobboau was trying to remind this forum that there is more than one Avatar out there.

I swear to god if one of those humorless mods edits my title, I'll... well I'll be unhappy.

I wouldn't be so sure about the delivering part. Just watched the preview (in 1080p) and it seems like they didn't get the SFX done particularly well

Meh. Movie is more than just special effects.

True, but as Avatar 2009 showed, great special effects has major effects on fantasy and science fiction alike. Unless the acting in Airbender does well to integrate the SFX (and thus appears to be a glimpse into another world and not a secondary school play) as well as the A:TLA canon, it is my thought that it'll fail to deliver. At a minimum, that means to me that they'll need actors and actresses to perform well-practiced sequences with a minimal safe margin for error or injury.

I'd be a lot more excited about this movie except...

Well, that's only partially true. I'd be more excited if the people involved hadn't decided to be assholes and if it weren't ****ing M Night Shyamalan who were directing. I mean, really. Has he ever displayed a sensibility remotely like the TV show's?

I'm studiously not mentioning that I haven't liked any of his films since the Sixth Sense.

maybe a scar and a constant sneer will help make him seem more villainous?

To be fair, he's casting the Slumdog Millionaire as the misunderstood and annoying teenage faggot, not the true "villain".

Asshole is acceptable. Other demographics are not valid insult terms.

On that note, who are they getting to play el'baldo?

Or the giant flying dog thingy.

Appa will be CG, you can see him in one of the trailers for literally half a second in the upper left corner.
I'm not sure who el'baldo is.
