I'm playing on a 2GHz duo, 3 GB ram, Vista Home Premium and a NVIDIA 8400M GS video card.
I don't *think* I'll have any problem running the game when there are hundreds of objects on screen.
So of course I'm looking to get the best graphics possible.
I have the default flags set in the launcher, presumably put there by the 3.6.10 installer:
-ambient_factor 70 -spec_exp 8.2 -spec_tube 1.0 -spec_point 8.6 -spec_static 3.5
Then I saw this post:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,53294.0.html
which suggests these flags:
-ambient_factor 0 -no_emissive_light -spec_exp 11 -spec_point .6 -spec_static .8 -spec_tube .4 -ogl_spec 80
Any advice for flag settings?
Cheers.

Well, since the values affect different lighting effects, it's really a matter of personal taste. And monitor. Example sets are listed here, with screenshots (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Sample_Lighting_Settings), so you can pick whatever seems nice and then test the game to see if it looks good. As for which flag does what, see command-line reference (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Command-Line_Reference#Lighting).

Excellent.
Thanks for the links.
That's all the questions I have.
Bye for now.
