Here bigynneth the Hard-Lyghters' Tale.
Whilom, as olde stories tellen us,
Ther was a mod that highte Dekker.
Of harde-lyght he was lord and governour,
an in his tyme such a drunkerde
That gretter was there noon on the forumme.
Ful many a riche nubee had he vanned;
What with his wysdom and chivalrie.
He conquered al the regne of GenDisc
That whilom was ycleped off-topicke
And weddede the queen Goober
And broghte hir hoom with hym in his forumme
With muchel lulz and greet solempnytee,
And also hir yonge suster Nuke.
And thus with victorie and with melodye
Lete I this noble mod to GenDisc ryde,
And al his booze in armes hym bisyde.
And certes, if it nere to long to heere,
I wolde have toold yow fully the manere
How wonnen was the regne of GenDisc
By Dekker and by his chivalrye;
And of the grete bataille for the nones
Bitwixen Hard-Lyght and GenDisc;
And how asseged was Goober,
The faire, hardy queene of off-topicke;
And of the lulz that was at her weddynge,
And of the faggotrie at hir hoome-comynge;
But all that thyng moot as now forbere.
I have, God knows, free-spayce to play,
And wayke be the calibration on my game-pad.
