Title: game blanks second monitor
Post by: Anti on February 18, 2010, 12:07:28 pm

OK, so while I try to blast some aliens, I want to do it in style with a Steve Vai video on my other monitor, played using VLC. However, when I start FS, the second monitor goes blank.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Freespace does not cooperate with mediaplayers. Mediaplayer classic will only produce sound if I put it to play on my second monitor when I start Fs2. (Youtube for that matter also doesn't work with video)

Then you are doing it wrong. Or using the wrong OS.

Try using -window (or -fullscreen_window with .11 or .12 builds).

It works using -window, but that's not ideal.
None of my other games (or any application for that matter) blanks my second monitor.
Having said that, who in 1998 had two monitors? :)
I guess it's just the way this old software was written.

Thanks

If you are using .11, you should have access to the -fullscreen_window option, which is like -window, but removes the title bar.
