As you can see in our latest Syrk screenshots, we are using ships from the FFPack. I was trying to find ships that have no definite timeline or before FS1 (and there aren't much TVWP ships in our arsenal because of the four factions and the way they interact and develop and decommissionate and blah blah blah), but sometimes this is impossible or just unplausible. I think that the FFPack ships look a bit "planeish" and as such, fit these times (and the faction) perfectly.
Now, we actually have plans to use the GTF Vampire from Ghost Revenants and one or two INF ships. Now, the question is: do you have anything against this? Will you rain down your flak cannons on us if we implement this and other ships that are "fanonically" not pre-FS1?

Considering that since fanon is by definition, non-canon, you can do whatever you want with those vessels and I won't care.
-
Yeah, it shouldn't matter at all for the purposes of your mod. So long as they fit what you're trying to do, a ship's a ship.
-
Them being used in other mods doesn't matter. Just consider if it fits in with what you need, and if it looks like it fits in with the other craft in the era. (for example, the Perseus Advanced would look terribly out of place in a unification-war era campaign. not that you couldn't handwave it off though.)
This is the issue the Vampire seems to have - it's not consistent with FS1-style terran fighter design, but more in line with FS2-style.
-
What other mods do doesn't matter. Do whatever works well for your story.

If you want ships that look pre-FS1, I'd suggest most INFA ships.
And yeah, the Vampire looks too much "modern".
Aside from that, I don't really care :) as long as you think it suits your mod, you can use the ships you want

I still think the steve o ships like the Thor look horrible out of place here
-
I'm not reading the whole thing because it's a no-brainer.
Your campaign, your rules.
Simple
-
That's really not a problem, unless you want to use Pers Adv. or other such design, it's OK.

I hit
"No, they can stay if renamed"
But would have preferred to hit
"They can stay because it is all suggestions and not fixed in any way"
There are many good community models for FS/FSO and to pin them to one place in the timeline is a waste, just don’t contradict yourself or canon (if applicable) without explainable reason and its all good.
