Title: FRED starts with four OpenGL-related error messages
Post by: TopAce on February 25, 2010, 11:19:57 am
I've got some trouble with OpenGL. Whenever I start FRED, I have to go through 4 error messages that complain about OpenGL. After some search on the web, I found out that whenever I update my graphics card, my OpenGL gets updated, too. I now have the 1/11/2010 driver for my graphics card (an nVidia GeForce 6600 GT), but FRED keeps complaining. I know that every graphics card has its OpenGL limits, but that can't be the problem here. The same graphics card ran FRED flawlessly on another computer - my old one. Ever since I set up my current computer, I get these errors. It's only the graphics card and Windows XP that these two configurations have in common. I think I might have missed something while installing either Windows or FRED Open.

Can anyone help?

I'm posting this here, because it's only FRED that displays these errors. Everything else works without error messages.

And here's the fred debug log:

Run FRED debug and post the log (fred2_open.log on .12 RC1 or later nightlies, fs2_open.log on anything else).

Are you running your Desktop at 16 bits of colour depth? If so, please set it to 32 bits.

Also, technically, your FS2 install is ****ed up, but I guess you are 1337 enough to know this :P

The game works just fine. It always has on this new configuration.

My FS install looks like this because I don't have the FS2 CDs anymore, so I copied my retail VPs from a backup CD I made.

Okay, I set my desktop to 32 bits, and that solved the problem. Thanks for the help.
