So, what do most people use as their controller for FreeSpace? Personally, I still use the same SideWinder Precision Pro that I used when FS1 came out back in '98. Still works well, though a little loose for most people.
-
I have a Logitech Extreme3D Pro joystick, but I'm more proficient with the trusty ol' mouse & keyboard.
-
1st gen MS Force Feedback(the one later bundled with MechWarrior3, though I already had a copy of that :P ).
Pretty huge thing, but it's the longest lasting stick I've ever had. Afterburner button's a little creaky if I push it too hard, and the hat's finicky about looking right, but other than that, still going strong.

Didn't we just have one of those?
Is that option supposed to be 'keyboard with or without mouse'? Seems like it should be two options.

Keyboard and/or mouse -- Lumped them both in one category because a people would likely use a combination of the two. (Technically, you're going to use the keyboard anyway, unless you have something with tons of buttons, but w/e)
-
I think it might be more useful to have separate categories for 'keyboard only' and 'keyboard/mouse'.
-
Wired Xbox 360 controller. Used to use an old Logitech Wingman Force, but I've come to favor the additional buttons on the gamepad.

Yeah...I can't seem to find it though.
Voted joystick, though, really, most of the buttons I press are on my keyboard. Joystick is only for steering.
-
I used mouse and keyboard until I got a SideWinder II, which for me is useful for evading but not for aiming. The mouse is useful for aiming, not so much evading.
Sometimes I use the mouse to aim, and quickly grab the stick if the situation intensifies...corkscrew circles always seem to work...
-
Keyboard only.
*Spits on mouse pilots*.
To this end I have clicked other, because I refuse to associate keyboard with mouse.
-
I was raised using joysticks, that stick is like an extension of my body. I don't know how you do it with a keyboard. :P
-
I play with my X52. I once tried using keyboard and mouse. Not one shot hit it's target...
-
Hand-eye coordination.
-
keyboard no mouse, numeric keypad more than enough for steering in single player
-
Keyboard purist.
For life dawg!
-
I would be using my good old F16 FLCS, but unfortunately my current motherboard doesn't have the fitting slot for it.... so I'm using a Thrustmaster USB joystick. I don't know the exact name, but it's just a mundance 2-axis, 4 buttons joystick.

PS2 controller with a USB adapter! (FTW  )
-
Once again...
KB+Mouse, with the mouse pretending to be a joystick via PPJoy.

PS2 controller with a USB adapter! (FTW  )
how much did the adapter cost?
-
Joystick (Wingman Force 3D) and keyboard.
I'd like to get throttle and rudder pedals, but everything I found is too expensive.
-
Keyboard only for me please.
-
Mouse
Until it turns into a close range turning fight, then its back to the keyboard
-
how much did the adapter cost?
Not sure if it is still that way, but some two years or so ago I they were around 10 € here were I live.
The problem I have though is, that the F16 doesn't need a PS2 (I have a PS2-USB Adapter from one of my mouses), but it is a gameport plug. You know the kind that looks like the old LPT plugs from printers, only about half as broad.

NO, NO, NO! Not PS2 as in PS2 mouse but PS2 as in Playstation 2.
hHeaddie, the adapter cost about 10 GBP. approximately 2 years ago, but that was from Game!
Thre are now cheaper versions online such these. (http://www.netpcdirect.co.uk/joypad-converters.html)
I like it because I can use all types of PS2 controllers with it i.e steering wheel and pedals, excellent for racing games.

Logitech Rumblepad 2 gamepad. It is good enough for single player.

hmmm, a little steep when you consider that a PS2 style pc joypad is about £10

As a starter yes but I had a plethora of Playstation 2 controllers, steering wheels and pedals, light guns etc, that fit the PS2 that for a one off payment of 10 GBP I could now use fully on the PC. Three new controllers for the price of one, I can even get a decent forcefeedback joystick for the PS2.

:P in that case it makes sense lol
