Title: green screens using Zathras?
Post by: GrizzlyT on March 12, 2010, 09:25:56 am
First, since this is my first post, I just have to say that THIS IS TOTALLY AWESOME!

I had no idea this project even existed, until recently. I have been focused on building my Comanche simulator for EECH for so long, that I never even realized this was underway....had no idea that Freespace went open source....a total surprise.
I was just thinking of maybe building a space sim next and immediately thought of Freespace2. I went poking around for the latest versions, patches, etc., and just stumbled onto this. Being a huge B5 fan, this made my day!!!

OK, now to the issue. (And forgive me if this is a common newbie question.)
When I run the Zathras mod, the transition screens are green?! The backgrounds aren't there.
Is there a fix for this?

Thanks!

A little more detail would be helpfull.
The first two possible places were the error might be, that come to my mind are these two:
Did you put Zathras in it's own folder inside the FS2 root folder and select it as a mod via the launcher?
Are you using an inferno exe file?

-  I installed the game via the DVD.
- I installed the Zathras mod into the Babylon Project folder.
It put the Zathras folder in there and put the new launcher and the FS2_open_3_6_10d_INF and Fred exes into the main BP folder.
- I did select the mod, via the launcher and also pointed it to the aforementioned ...10d_INF.
- When I start the game its says it's running v3.6.10 inferno OpenGL.

- When I go to the mission simulator, as it loads the missions, the background (Not the mission window) goes green for a second, then it's OK.
- When I go to the campaign menu. It will say the campaign is over and I need to re-start. That screen is green. (Again, not the message box though.)
- When I go to exit, the screen goes green but not the message box.
- There may be more instances of green,  but these were the examples that came to mind.

Thanks!

You shouldn't be running with the -d (debug) build. Use an -r build.

Oops. Apologies.
I'm not actually running the -d version. The launcher is pointed to the FS2_open_3_6_10_INF

Sorry about that.

Actually, the debug build (that is, the "d" one) could be useful. Go here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359), follow the instructions under the "Your fs2_open.log" part, then deliver your fs2_open.log to us. The instructions are for FSO, but as you know, TBP uses the same game engine so you can easily apply the same instructions to TBP.

Also, system specs couldn't hurt.
