Have you made a thread where you don't complain about something?
-
I don't get it.
-
I don't either really. I was just being snarky.
-
I don't get it.
You guys are taking this way too seriously, it's just comedy. :)
-
are you sure? usually comedy is somewhat comedic.
-
are you sure?
Quite sure.
-
Domestic abuse is never funny. Ever. Making light of it is a bad idea.
-

"I don't get it," is taking something too seriously?
Incidentally, when one makes a joke and one's audience considers it offensive and in poor taste, it's the height of jackassery to tell the audience, "lol, grow thicker skins." One doesn't get to decide what other people are offended by.
-
So...anyone else up for that moratorium on drive-by link-postings now?
-
Haven't heard of it before, but I like the idea.
-
The only part of that video that was even remotely amusing was the response of the person on the phone.

Yes.
-
That video is not funny, at all.
-
Rather boring. I didn't spot anything particularly funny in that either.
Somehow, just somehow, I get the feeling that you find it funny solely because it's politically incorrect and wanted to post it only because you get a kick out of getting the response you knew it'd get.
-
Heh. Domestic violence as a joke in conversation between the boys is funny. A song about domestic violence mocking a woman being kicked on the ground and bleeding, is not.
-

Can't say I can agree.
-
Really depends on whose making joke...
-
I didn't mean,
"Argggh, the girlfriend's doing her make-up for another half-hour. >_<"
"'Aye man, you should ****in' beat her head in until she bleeds all over the ****in' carpet and shiiiiiiit!"
Because that's just plain creepy.
Something more along the lines of
"Hey man, is it alright if we wait here another hour? My girl's out with her mates. >_<"
"Pfft, slap her!" *tongue firmly in cheek*
"**** you, man." *tongue is also firmly in cheek*
Regardless, actual domestic violence isn't funny whichever way you put it, and especially not in the way the video puts it.
-

No, as this would stop the good ones as well. I mean, what did you expect when you opened a thread with this title?
Domestic violence as a joke in conversation between the boys is funny.
Indeed. Context is key, but they're in the same vein as killing hooker jokes and stuff.
As for the video, not really funny, and especially annoying that there were 38 seconds of credits before the video and 38 seconds after it. On a 200 second video.

No, as this would stop the good ones as well.
But how many "good ones" have there actually been in recent memory? And how many of those have had to fight to become good threads despite a paucity of commentary in the opening post, as opposed to benefiting from a well-constructed argument in the first place?
On another forum I frequent, there's a modding policy which states that, if a thread's original poster essentially asks a one-line question or links something without stating their own opinion in some depth, said thread will almost certainly be locked. This may seem overly-harsh, but it has the effect of making people start a discussion themselves, instead of doing the posting equivalent of throwing pasta noodles at the wall and seeing if they stick. The latter is all well and good for the occasional gag article that won't engender much more than a "lol" response, but otherwise, it's been my experience that threads without that initial strong foundation are the ones which most easily turn into flat-out flame wars.
-
all offensiveness aside, that video wasn't funny anyway. i second the drive-by moratorium. (sp?)
-
Meh. I watched the video now.
It was boring and offensive. I didn't even realize that was possible.
Thanks for teaching me something new, Nemesis!

What's really disappointing is that that Duane and BrandO pairing did some really good rap-remixes of video game soundtracks (at least, until they split up). This is a very far cry from that standard.

Domestic abuse can be funny if you're beating a clown

Yes, OverClocked Remix (http://ocremix.org/) has a ton of amazing stuff, including several good rap/hip-hop remixes.

Battuta rage...in 3...2...1...
-
One can be concerned without being enraged. In fact I don't think I've become enraged particularly often here on HLP, certainly not recently.
Already reported anyway.

I think this thread has played itself out.
