Title: Problem with official (final) version

Hi.

I download "Release 3.4b (Final) (750 MB)" from your website. When I click "Continue" on main screen TPB crushed.

I opened a fs2_open_3_6_9_INF_debug.exe

Could we get a full debug log from your /data/ folder? It should be called fs2open.log.


TBP is very difficult to troubleshoot in the 'final' version. Could you download the Zathras mod and a 3.6.10 build and try that?

Get Zathras (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=64799.0). Install it as per the instructions in that thread. Use the build provided in the package. If the problem persists, follow the steps outlined here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359).

Reason: The 3.6.9 build you are using does not give us all the information we need, and Zathras fixes a few bugs.

Also, TBP needs to be started with the "-tbp" commandline argument, which is found in the Launcher's gameplay feature list.

Problem here looks like video card or drivers.  Your card isn't supporting compressed dds files which TBP uses.  Try updating your drivers.

Get a new graphics card. Seriously, I checked the Nvidia driver section and I don't think there's anything newer available for that card.

your card just doesn't seem to be able to understand the DDS format.

Correction: It doesn't understand compressed dds files. Bottom Line: That card is ****. A Riva TNT? Seriously? Sorry, but while FS2 will run on that, TBP will not. 10 year old GPUs have problems like that.

WOW that's an outdated card. You do realize even now there are PCI cards that are better than that? That said, you could easily find a Geforce 6 or 7 series AGP card, maybe even an 8, for relatively cheap, depending on the card.
