Title: Hey are there any 'fan made missions' I can download?

Guys:

I have swapped my PC for a faster model; I have just downloaded WCS & NOW...I am looking for some additional missions that aren't too hard to download; I recall one that required that I aid in the capture of a Kat cap ship; and another one which had a 'retro' feel in that I raided a Kat convoy in a Rapier; bear in mind I have no idea what they are called anymore so can anyone point me to someplace I can download these & other fan made missions?

Got the Price of Freedom but 'Behind Enemy Lines requires FRED & a version of FS2 which I don't currently have; Thanks...are there any other ones?

'Behind Enemy Lines requires FRED & a version of FS2 which I don't currently have;
What it means is that you must
- download a new enough FSO build from the SCP board (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=50.0) (3.6.12 RC1 should probably work)
- place the .exe files to your \wcs\ folder
- use the WCS Launcher and select the non-debug version of the build you just downloaded instead of whatever was previously selected (if you downloaded 3.6.12 RC1, you should select fs2_open_3_6_12r*somethingsomething*.exe).

It really isn't rocket science and you won't have to do any complete and thorough uninstallation/installation procedures. Just download a new build and use it instead of the one that came with WCS.

PS: I definitely recall a convoy mission with a rapier or some other heavy fighter and a 'capture a Kitty Capital ship & defend it from torp attacks' mission, too; I can' t seem to find it anywhere---or remember anything else.

I don't see any reason you'd need a copy of FS2. Just make sure you have 3.6.12 RC1 of FreeSpace Open (which Wing Commander Saga runs on.)

Please tell me: where exactly does it say that FreeSpace 2 is required? Keeping in mind that
- WCS does not require FS2
- FS2_Open is not the same thing as FreeSpace 2.
 
If you don't believe me, you can always buy FreeSpace 2 from Good Old Games for $5.99.

A fairly LONG time ago, I tried to play BEL & after rooting around a bit I was informed that I need to have FS2 AND that open whatchimathingy;

HOWEVER...IF you're saying I can install BEL and play it as a campaign in WCS then I am so there...at least unless I run into technical issues.

There could be a great many reasons for that but out of curiosity: who/what informed you that you need to have FS2?

BEL Installation for dummies:

1. Install BEL to a subdirectory in your WCSaga Prologue folder.
2. Download this EXE from here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,64520.0.html) and place it in your WCSaga Prologue folder.
3. Open up the launcher and select the fs2_open_3_6_10.exe using the browse button at the top.
4. Under the Mod tab in the launcher, select the BEL folder as a mod.
5. You are ready to run the game.

You do not need FS2 to run BEL; you only need a recent build of FS2_Open and the WCSaga Prologue.

OK I am following the 'dummy's guide to BEM intallation:

I downloaded WCS & installed it; Check

I downloaded BEM & having no idea what a subdirectory is I put in 'somewhere in the WCS folder'; check

I download the EXE you told me to & 'copy & pasted' it into the WCS folder; check

I have gone into the WCS folder & found something marked 'launcher.exe' & opened it; check

I click on the launcher.exe & then click on the fs2_open_3_6_10.exe using the browse button at the top-I get the following warning: unrecognized command parameter-2d_proof, continue? And then a 'failed to read flag file' fatal error

I can go no further;

More help please.

That flag has been removed since FSO 3.6.9. Clicking "OK" or something similar should continue and remove that flag from the commandline, effectively letting you play.

OK I created the BEM folder and put all 56.9 Mb of it into the folder; when I select it from the MoD tab & start the game all I get is the 'old' WC Sage' campaign;

Looks like we need a 'moron's guide' to help me!  :hopping: :shaking: :confused:

If you have followed all the instructions, you need to:
1. Open the Launcher
2. Go to the mod tab

There should be a debug build in the engine package you downloaded (called fs2_open_3_6_xxd.exe). Select that in the Launcher, and run the game. Quit when you get to the pilot select screen, then retrieve the fs2_open.log file from <WCS directory>\data

There should be .vp files in there. If there are only .7z files, you must unpack them with a proper software, like 7-Zip or WinRAR.

No, no. Please post a list of files you have in the BEL folder.

The files you need are probably all present, they're just archived in a container and you need to unpack them.

- Open up your \BEL\ folder.
- Press Alt + Print Screen (may also be written as Prt Scr or something like that).
- Open up an image editor. Any image editor. Even Paint will do if you don't have anything else.
- Paste the image (Ctrl + V).
- Save the image (jpg will do)
- Provide the image to us somehow (attach to your post, upload to Imageshack, etc...).

I think my tech limitations are showing; what other image openers are there that might be remotely familiar; I have paint but I don't seem to be able to paste a screenshot on it; in addition can you suggest a free tool to open up the download.

If screenshots are too much, just list all the files that are in your \BEL\ folder. With file extensions. That is, are they .7z, .vp or what.

Edit: I took a screenshot that will hopefully make things more clear. This is what you should have now:

You'll notice that I used red rectangles to highlight
- the directory where these files should be (C:\Program Files\Wing Commander Saga Prologue\BEL\ )

also Ive had can seem to get Convoy Intercept to load either Ive put them in the Prologe directory the same way as i did with the wc3, wc4, and BEL add ons which all work fine. but the convoy intercept.vp file wont load at startup i can see in the startup messages it load the others but for some reason it does not detect the one for convoy intercept.

The Convoy Intercept mission is accessed through the mission simulator.  Go into the tech room, click on "Mission Simulator" at the top, click on "Single Missions" at the bottom left, and the Convoy Intercept mission should appear in that list.
