Seriously, MI5 is getting rid of the staff they deem have insufficient computer based skills:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8615162.stm
So, who's now much less excited about the next season of Spooks? :P
On the other hand, I think most of us people could probably survive working for MI5 if all they do is sit in front of computers...
-
That'd drive me mental to be honest.
Although they do have quite a good gym on-site.
-
No need for all the guys who used to manage the file cabinets.
-
Makes perfect sense. The last thing you want are people with high level clearance using the word "Password" as their password. :p
-
Yeah, I agree, it makes loads of sense. Higher chance of mistakes being made if they have no idea what they're doing.
-
imagine if MI6 did the same. The next James Bond movie would revolve around James Bond going to computer classes :P
"you expect me to change my password?"
"No mister Bond, I expect you to be fired!"
-
Bond is quite computer literate ;O

What do they deem as sufficient computer skills, ECDL, NVQ, A-level, Degree level? Someone in my workplace has an ECDL, hasn't got a clue! Honestly, she's constantly asking me how to format the text in her reports!
"There's too much space underneath the text there!!
"That's because you pressed return too many times. Watch, backspace, backspace, backspace........."etc. The woman is the bane of my life!
-
What the crap is a ECDL?

What the crap is a ECDL?
There's always Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Canto_del_Loco).

ECDL = European Computer Driving Licence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Computer_Driving_Licence)

People get certificates now for being able to use microsoft office? :wtf:

Yeah...... and not worth the paper it was printed on either from what I can see. She once came to me to say her computer was broken, the cursor just kept shooting down the screen, when I came to view it, she had a folder resting on the keyboard!
