for those of you interested in joining

http://www.belegarth.com

the rules are there, there are instructions in how to properly make weapons, you can search for realms (people to fight with outside of events) in your area.

Yeah, I bookmarked that site already, actually.  ;)

I'm wondering Kazan, where are you from that you're doing this?

Iowa. Springwars, Armageddon and Oktoberfest are all at Stone House Park near Earlville, IL

I'm from northwestern Indiana...

...As you can see (should you check the chapter locations), there's no chapters up around DeMotte, IN.  :P

It would be cool to start a chapter up here, someday.

That's just wrong.

Also I have no idea what the heck this is all about.

it's a joke. the bottle contains an adult beverage named after the guy holding the bottle.  The bottle is nicknamed The Schlong

the first time you drink out of that bottle you have to answer the question "Are you an Idealist, or a Traditionalist?" - if you answer wrong, you get on your knees.

if you're a kinky tease like my wife (The woman pictured) you just do it for laughs.

I thought, just for a moment, 'LARP based on David Eddings Books?'

Then I realised it was Belegarth, and not Belgarath...

and we're not a larp

I suppose it depends, from the pictures you can't tell if any 'Role-Playing' is going along, if you have to define whether you are 'in' our 'out' of character, then it's larping, if you don't then I'll buy that 'Live Action Combat Simulation' is possibly a better term.

And I'm not against Larping, or whatever you want to call it, wouldn't mind giving it a go myself if it weren't for the fear that the inevitable cardiac arrest would probably put a downer on the day ;)

actually it's not a rose by another name.  there is a huge gulf between belegarth and a LARP.

That's why I changed my post on reading the site a bit deeper (just so people know - I originally did say a rose by any other name, and then changed the post later so don't blame Kazan). As I said, it revolves around the 'In Character'/'Out of Character' thing as far as I'm aware :)

people are never "in character" we have our garb, some people paint themselves and call themselves non-human races.. but it's all tongue-in-cheek

2 parts mixed partial art, 2 parts medieval reenactment, 1 part fantasy goofery, 0 parts serious
