I'm running Freespace 2 open, the original campaign, and 2 missions in a row the cyclops missiles have been unavailable... Unavailable from the weapon selection, even though both missions call for them, and not listed in the tech room either. The first mission I just played through with no cyclops and had my wingmen do the dirty work on the cap ships, but now i'm a mission later and the same prob is there, and I'd rather not continue to launch volleys of rockeye at corvettes and cap ships :-)
searched these forums, and the only answer i could find was to restart any campaign from the campaign selector. I fired up a few mods I wasn't playing and restarted those campaigns, as I didn't want to lose my main campaign progress. Did that and it didn't work.
I used the latest "Turrey" installer with "the works", and so of course it has all the mods and files that go with it.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I'm having a great time replaying what has always been my favorite game of all time, and am amazed at the updated graphics and options FSO has to offer to keep this game in the current generation! Incredible! Thanks

Which mission exactly is this happening on?
Can you provide a fs2_open.log (instructions on how to do this are found in the Support FAQ stickied here)?
-
Sounds like a corrupted pilot file. You shouldn't use the same pilot for more then one mod. Try creating a new pilot and then play with that and see if they show up.
-
Uh oh, I didn't know you weren't supposed to use the same pilot for different mods :-( I've only messed around with a few different mods to check them out, but I DID use my same pilot.
E, The missions affected are "The King's Gambit" (completed) and now "The Sicilian Defense.". Fubar, I tried a new pilot, but of course this starts me off at mission 1 of the campaign, where I'd rather not be and lose all of my progress... At any rate, the cyclops still doesn't show up in the tech room. But I'm not sure if it's not supposed to show up until I unlock it in the campaign anyways?
I'll get the open.log file and post it here, thanks a million guys!!
-
Your best best is probably to start a new file, go to the techroom mission simulator, press Ctrl-Shift-S, and play the missions in order from there.
I'm not sure if cutscenes will play in the right places, though.

Here's the log file, thanks guys!

Do NOT use these flags UNLESS you are playing either TBP or WCSaga.
Also, does this error appear with the mediavps selected as a mod in the Launcher?
-
I'm sorry, were those flags from the log file? I haven't added any commands myself... Here is what my "custom flags" field says, by default:
-ambient_factor 70 -spec_exp 8.2 -spec_tube 1.0 -spec_point 8.6 -spec_static 3.5
I tried mediavps as the mod, and still no cyclops in mission or tech room.
Battuta, tried the simulator and the cyclops' are indeed there! Thanks!! Don't really care much about the cutscenes... but will consecutive missions unlock if I play from the simulator??
-
You need to press ctrl-shift-S to unlock all missions.
You really, really, really don't want to miss the cutscenes. Especially towards the end of the game.
Hey, what about the skipmemymissionyo cheat? How does that work?
-
I'm sorry, were those flags from the log file? I haven't added any commands myself... Here is what my "custom flags" field says, by default:
In the features tab, set the list view to "Gameplay". The boxes named "Enable features for WCS" and "Enable features for TBP" need to be off.
-
Yeah, I was thinking I could skip the cutscenes as I've seen them before... but that WAS ten years ago :-p
E, I unchecked those boxes, they were indeed checked... Not sure if I did that messin' around or if they were on by default. Still no cyclopses in the main campaign, however.

Thanks mucho, that certainly answers it! I'll be sure to make a new pilot for the different mods from now on.
