The time has come for me to buy a new headset and I am agonizing over it far more than I should be.
This (http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/productSearch/prod440020) is what I have been using for the last several years. It still works great, but the ear cushions are gone and I can't get replacements anymore. So I've decided to buy a new pair. But I have no idea what to get or where to get it from. All I do know that I refuse to pay more than about $30 to $40 for it. Questions, comments and Suggestions are very welcome on this subject. Oh, and Steelseries can suck my unmentionables, there's no way in hell I'm paying $100+ for a headset.

No more than $40? Awww, guess these (http://www.logitech.com/en-roeu/speakers_audio/headphones/devices/5095) are too expensive then. They've worked well for me though.

craigslist.... that's about your only hope.
Astro Gaming makes nice headsets as do Tritton, but expect to pay no less than $100

I don't understand how that is. The ones I linked above served me well, and they didn't cost but about $35. I don't need surround sound, mega-fi or 16 bajillion extra functions. I play warcraft and talk in vent and not much of that recently as my job is 7 days a week right now. So what I'm looking for is decent sound quality and a microphone that doesn't make me sound like a mouse on crack or an AM radio station that's 3 miles too far away.

I use this one (http://www.eminent-online.com/product/128/em3561-headset-with-microphone.html) - real cheap, and I'm happy with it.

Liberator, when choosing a headset, don't forget that there are two types of headphones: Open-eared and Close-eared. Open eared cover your ears but allow you to hear the outside word while the close eared completely close you off from the outside world.
