Title: Re: Freespace 2 campaign: Proving Grounds
Post by: julientroploin on May 23, 2010, 07:47:41 am
Hello pilots,
I've got a problem playing the 22th mission :
Although I complete the 4 objectives, including destroying the Tiamat, an get congratulated in the "end-briefing", the Game refuse me the access to the 23th mission.

Did you know that issue? Is there a solution?

Julien

PS Sorry for my bad English, in not a native-speaker

Pilot file....?
A debug log will be requested so you might want to run the debug exe (same name as the release exe just with a 'd' instead of an 'r') and then post your log here.

Sorry, I foret to write that i'm playing the GNU/Linux (Ubuntu) version of FS2, so I don't have a .exe file.  :P

I suppose you don't know how to lauch a debug mode of the game under GNU/Linux?   :doubt:

If a french speacker user of ubuntu is here, the tutorial I followed to install the FreeSpace games : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/freespace

Please read this: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Guide_to_FS_Open_on_Linux

It's the most comprehensive guide for FSO on Linux.

Thanks a lot for the link but it seems to be focused on the installation end on the problem while installing FS... I'll put this in the tutorial on ubuntu-fr, it could help some people.
My problem only concern the mission 22 : I played FS1, FS1extention and the 22 missions of FS2 without any problem.

I have a solution to my problem : dying 5times and accept the proposal to skip the mission, but I'd like to solve this problem more "softly" (I don't know if it is the good word)

My point was that that guide explains how to get a debug executable as well; you should use that to generate an fs2_open.log.

This could probably get split and moved to the Support forum, but I don't want julientroploin to think that all his posts mysteriously vanished, so I'll let it sit here. :)

Best thing to do in these cases is to split, wait till he posts in the split topic, then move.

Oh, you just select the debug build in the launcher, and run the game as per usual.

GNU/Linux (Ubuntu)
Not that I'd know how debug builds are compiled on Linux or something, but it is certainly possible. Many Linux users have provided fs2_open.logs, which are generated by debug builds.

Booting to Support, then, per karajorma's suggestion.
