Title: Browsers or Google or... I dunno, something (split from GTVA classifies things too highly.)
Post by: Aardwolf on May 28, 2010, 01:22:42 am
Are you clueless, or just very confused?

I mean, think about what you said. Has the FreeSpace Source Code Project ever written a tech description? Even if it had, would they be canon? Who in their right mind would describe it as a collaborative fiction site?

So, are you just confused (http://tinyurl.com/34abfk9)?

Is this meant to devastate me or you?

Because it just seems to suggest that you are, in fact, really confused.

You're Google was intended to explain (or at least highlight) the difference between the FreeSpace SCP and the SCP Project.  When the first thing below the search box is FreeSpace SCP related, it remains ambiguous.

It's not, at least on default Google. He just starred the FreeSpace SCP to make it come up first.

My defaul Google disagrees with you, sir.

No, silly  I'm being a smartass and pointing out that your lmgtfy link ended up putting HLP before everything else.

That said, I probably should have stuck with the original image ( http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l77/Aardwolf001/Funny%20Stuff/lmgtfyderp.png ), rather than going back and highlighting the place where it shows up lower on the page.

Also note that there's no way you could've predicted that my browser would do that.

And as for "Devastator"... I was being a smart-ass. My smartass reply shatters your smartass lmgtfy link, because it was that awesomely awesome, what with the highlighty stuff.  :nervous:

Edit to fix double post:

It's not, at least on default Google. He just starred the FreeSpace SCP to make it come up first.

I've had the HLP Forums bookmarked since the day I installed Chrome, thank-you-very-much.

So you were confused enough that you were unable to discriminate your bookmarks from the default search results?  :wtf:

Are you trying to get the last word in here, or just agonizingly prolonging your own suffering?

My defaul Google disagrees with you, sir.

Seriously? Googling SCP project brings up something different?

On Chrome over here 'SCP project' brings up the SCP foundation first.

Well now I'm genuinely curious.

Bear in mind that this is all totally irrelevant - googling 'SCP Project' will bring you the desired result immediately and it would take an utter idiot to ignore it in favor of the SCP you're already aware of.

Indeed.  The first result on my google was thus (http://www.nationalserviceresources.org/files/FGP_SCP_Project_Managment_101.pdf).

Curiouser and curiouser! That's third on mine. Do you have some preferences set or somesuch?

Not that I know.  However, I'm not the only one to use this computer, so who knows?

Er... did I not include enough shifty-eyes smileys to overcome Poe's Law?

Seriously, with Internet Explorer you'll find the FS SCP Project as the 7th result on the 1st page. Keep viewing more results and on the FIFTH page, there'll be two of them.

Yeah, I think I'm almost physically incapable of using it now.

Mozilla FTW.

Oh, sorry, Internet Explorer 8.

Why's everybody so positive about Godzilla (*cough* Mozilla, I mean)?

It's not about being positive about Firefox. It's just that any browser has the incommensurable advantage over IE to be a browser.

I still use IE, because I know how it works and what buttons do what.

I used to use IE, because I thought "Hey, this is a browser. And it's preinstalled. Why should I use some other browser?". Then I read about security in browsers and switched to Firefox. And it also had Adblock that could finally rid me of those pesky Flash ads, that run around the screen playing cheeky sounds or weird music. And popups. They also died. Recently I've switched mostly to Opera because FF has been getting so heavy.

No longer developed, but supposedly SeaMonkey (http://www.seamonkey-project.org/) is its natural descendant / replacement.

EDIT:

Try Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome) (now at version 5 stable!) if you want speed.

Do I really need to point out that anyone who looks for SCP Project and think that means FS2_Open is an idiot because I am not a member of the Source Code Project Project. :p

I think the other SCP is actually the SCP Foundation.
