Title: Group targeting!
Post by: x3110 on June 16, 2010, 10:28:01 pm
Well,i'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it before,it is possible in the game to target a ship not on your radar by using the Targetting hotkeys(or just find their location) which though helpful somewhat ruines the gamepla, how can you target a ship when it is not on the radar ?

Just group the invisible ships with a visible ship in Hotkey menu(F3) with a funtions key and press the assigned funtion key.The visible ship is targetted but the invisile ships location is also shown in white brackets.

Somebody should fix this.
Please reply if you don't understand this,i would post a demo mission with instructions.

But you can't put a ship on a hotkey if you can't target it. This would have to be implemented in the mission by the designer.

In the nebulas there is a targeting limit, the control makes targeting lose a notch.
In the mission where you have to destroy 6 shivan gas miners and sentry guns in the main campaign for example, it is a little hard to find them all but use the targeting and this would be a cakewalk.
Also,I suggest the brackets when ships send a transmission be removed for stealth ships.

I believe there is already a Mantis bug related to this situation somewhere.

I wouldn't say it's being worked on. Just that the SCP team are aware of the issue (assuming it is actually in Mantis).

From the description, this sounds more like the Target Target's Target exploit.
