Title: Help with mapping in 3d max
Post by: starbug on June 21, 2010, 08:37:41 am
I have just modelled a dalek ship in 3d max an i am struggling on applying textures to it, as i have only just started to use the program. I am slowly learning it, but i could do with a few pointers please.

here is the model

In this pic the area that is marked in red is where i want to apply the texture in the corner of the image

What would be the best way to do this please?

I would use a Multi-Subobject material. You can follow this tutorial to see how it works. (http://www.cadtutor.net/tutorials/3ds-max/multi-sub-object.php) It allows you to apply different materials to the same object.

Now if you wanted it to have decent UV mapping, that's something else entirely.
