Noticed in a thread that High Max seems to have a big fondness of...
;-).
What did I miss?
-
He had these moments when he'd go and edit many, many, many of his posts, replacing the original contents with a smiley, most often a ";-)".
-
Makes me wonder if it's reasonable/feasible to prevent certain people from editing their posts. Or maybe put a limit to how often they can do it. ;-)
(Then again, there's the quote feature)

There is exactly one thread where he didn't do that. Of course, he still editted his posts so they bore no resemblence to the originals (which were quoted).

Karaj tried it, but apparently the current iteration of the forum software refuses to work correctly on this point.

Oh it can be made to work correctly. It's just that I'd rather ban someone permanently than have to waste over an hour setting up a special group for every single public forum on HLP just to prevent them from committing a bannable offence again.
The problem is that something like this should be a 3-4 minute job at maximum.
-
Also, the number of asshats who abuse the post-edit feature is rather limited. You will also note that High Max (who was never the easiest person to be around) was summarily banned for this kind of nonsense.
-
god that guy was the most annoying POS I've ever seen on this forum, by far. possibly on the internet at large.
as for why you would go through the trouble of doing this rather than flat out ban him? it would be more fun to see him actually have to defend the mind vomit he'd use our forum to collect. granted seeing him squirm would only prove entertaining enough to offset the added annoying for a day or two.
-
Wouldn't help. He has shown himself to be resistant to any and all advice offered, and seems to be fundamentally incapable of accepting the fact that he did something wrong. Banning him was for the best.
-
So he's actually perma-banned, per his title?
-
Yes. He's not coming back.
-
If you miss him though, you can go visit Sectorgame where he has registered under the username of Gary or somesuch.

I've met worse, lots, lots worse.
-
an0n was almost as bad, in his own, different way.
-
Except an0n occasionally had a sensse of humour.
Also, HM has been banned for a few weeks now. No need to talk about him anymore, I think.
