Based on this concept:
I "borrowed" the front end from the original Apollo, but rest of it's my own work. I only need one thing done to get it into FS2: Can someone out there double-side this (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/gtdwolf/misc/apollo2.zip) part of the model? It was made in Blender and has a few flipped normals (read: most of them).
-
Oh yeah, I forgot, any comments or suggestions?
-
I think you need to make the front of the cockpit jutting downwards, like in the pic.
Otherwise nice, needs better textures but nice
-
OK, I forgot to do that ( ). Wait a minute... NM, it doesn't look right when I do that (makes the texs get all distorted).
-
What he said :D
and IMO it looks more like an Apollo prototype rather than a MkII
-
Where do you think the concept came from? It's one of the original :v: designs for the Apollo.

Here's a pic with the new skin job. The primary skin is a modified Sath tex, and the other tex is a modified Charbydis tex.

I mean the model when compared to the Apollo in-game...compare them side-by-side and the 'mk II' will look like the prototype. It'd also be a nice change from the Apollo mk VIIs floating around out there ;)
-
hargh... maybe it's time you try doing custom maps no? you know how to model, now to the next step
-
Ohhhh "stealth" Apollo :D

Yeah, seriously cool textures. Also see what the Pegasus tex does...that might look good too.

Hmmm.... That's an idea. Perhaps have the GTVA take it out of mothballs and retrofit it....
About the custom maps, the best 2d graphics program I have is Irfanview, and Paint is pretty hard to do maps in.
And about the Pegasus map, I would, but the model has a cylindrical UV projection, which would screw up the map.

Yep, it's now officially the Apollo Prototype. I got the polys fixed in blender, and it's in POF format. Got the guns and stuff all setup, just need to do the TBL. I'm planning on doing 2 versions: the basic version (pre-standard Apollo) and a Retrofit version (post-FS2)
Tentative History:
The Apollo Prototype was the original design for the Apollo developed by GTI R&D. It featured an experimental twin engine system which produced higher yields than most GTVA designs used today. This allowed it to be more maneuvarable and faster than a comparable modern fighter. It's primary and secondary setup is very similar to the standard Apollo, but with a higher compatibility. Unfortunately, the GTN's attempts to get more ships out quicker during the T-V war caused it's production to be cancelled in favor of the standard Apollo, which was far cheaper. Since Capella, it was put back into production, but with some modifications, including an enhanced reactor, a shield system, and a more advanced primary mount.

The model has been released in the GTD Wolf forum. (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,7038.0.html)
