Hail Canada! 

Today also marks the day when John Buford's Cavalry held the high ground against Harry Heth's Division until reinforced by the I Corps under John Reynolds.  Successfully securing Cemetery Hill, Cemetery Ridge, and Culp's Hill  for the Army of the Potomac  giving them the superior position against Lee's Army of Northern Virginia in what would become the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg.  Tomorrow the 20th Maine will defend the Union left flank from being rolled up by Longstreet's Division.

Actually, I had planned on starting such a thread earlier today, but my toddler distracted me and I forgot.

BTW, I can hear the rumble of the fireworks from Parliament Hill in the distance... with other consumer-level fireworks being set off closer-by.
