How far are you from the Mall? Last time I was in DC for the Fourth I just took the subway.
Admittedly, it was only from Chrystal City, but still.

We're at my grandparents, went to a friends lake house. Got to hang with his nephews, who are pretty cool, my age, and I never get to see them outside of hunting season. We went fishing, played with firecrackers for a bit, went swimming, ate (a lot), and then at the end, my friend's brother spent his daughters entire college fund (I believe it - him and his kids aren't exactly the pride of the family) on fireworks, which we got to help set up and light.

5 Miles. I could just as easily walk downtown, but I'm a lazy bastard and it is almost 100 Friggin degrees. D:

As a resident of the American south, I will be keeping something bullet resistant over my head at all times tonight. Seems the safest course of action on that one evening of the year when the locals are encouraged to play with explosives.
-
Psh, go out and blow something up like a good American. :p
-
my neighborhood was louder, but slightly safer this year. nothing got launched at my door this time.

Big thing I'm happy about is that she's not in pain. I'm also happy that her final trial is almost over and then she can rest and enjoy the riches that have been laid up for her in Heaven.
