So I was FREDing this mission, and changed a capship's callsign (The Phoenicia) to "Tactical", and so I have a send-message-list sexp's going on that reference the Phoenicia, but rather than going "Tactical: Roger that Alpha, the blockade is now in position." and whatever the frak else, it shows up as ": Roger that, etc and so on", and doesn't show the Phoenicia's callsign. Is tactical too many characters? I've also used a #(name here) message sender in another send-message-list, does that confuse it?
TL;DR: Callsigns set in FRED don't show up in mission.
Am I doing something wrong? Has this been reported before? I've used callsigns several times before and this hasn't happened.

Try taking out the colon and see if that helps. Replace it with a dash or something.
-
The actual callsign is "Tactical". I put the colon in because of the way it appears in-game.
-
I don't think callsigns work on capital ships... At least they didn't in 3.6.10, might have changed since then.
-
Oh, cock and balls! Back to the old fashioned way it is, then.
-
In Warzone, I wanted Admiral Russik's Argo transport to show the Admiral's name as a callsign, and it didn't work. :(
-
It only works on fighters and bombers, by design. That doesn't explain why it was blank, though.
-
It wasn't blank. I could read the ship's name, only, as if no callsigns were used.
-
It showed up blank when I tried.

Oh, sorry. I thought Goober was refering to the Warzone problem.

This is what it's supposed to do.

This is not what it's supposed to do. Mantis plz.

Will do after work.

If this were fixed, it would mean you could have messages which say they're sent from a specific "callsign", but pressing ALT+Y (target whoever sent the last message) would still target the ship associated with that callsign?
