ive been able to use Direct3D before

I believe that Microsoft stoped supporting glide with Direct X 8.1.  I have FS2 on Win XP Professional, and it runs perfectly (had Annihilator 2 at first then got GForce 3 Ti500).  Thus is probably the reason why you are having so much troble with the game, and I would assume other problems exsit with the card in XP as well.

FS1 and FS2 works perfectly on my system: Windows XP and GF3 Ti200 (Previously Radeon 64 MB DDR ViVo and worked with it too).

I just downloaded the patch using this link:
http://www.pxo.net/files/fs21x-12.exe
And it worked just fine.

When you start FS2, go first to Setup and select "Detect Available Cards", then select one of the choices from drop-down menu. You should have Glide displaying there, use it as you have Voodoo card that supports it.

If it does not work, then I suggest you to download these drivers:
http://www.omegacorner.com/
Go to "3dfx" and then select "V3/4/5 WINDOWS 2k OMEGA DRIVERS 1.03b DRIVER [1.52MB]".

Or "V3/4/5 WINDOWS 2k OMEGA DRIVERS 1.03b KIT", this one includes more than just the drivers. I don't have Voodoo so I don't know better.

Remove your current drivers, reboot and install the new ones. As far as I know, those drivers are the best you can get because there will not be newer drivers from 3dfx...

By the way, if you use Omegadrive's, read the readme file!
(As one should always do if there's readme included...)

i just unticked dtect hi-res and 32bit and Direct3D popped up and now im fightin online like the good ole dayz

Even though they are W2k drivers, they still should be functional in XP.

True, but there should be specific drivers for XP; there was an XP set for my Kyro 2, for example. I can get FS2 working fine, no hiccups whatsoever.

Problem of course is that there is no official drivers for WinXP because 3dfx has been long gone. :)

Basically all Voodoo XP drivers are tweaked W2k drivers.

Not to mention that Microsoft no longer supports any 3DFX product after Win2k.

yes all the new drivers are modified INF's and a few tweaks
but the new 1.09.00 and 1.10.00 from 3dfx-U are compleatly new...hell the guy working on OpenGL has got Aniso filtering working on our Voodoo 5`s!

Go to guru3d.com (http://www.guru3d.com) , in the download section. You'll find 3dfx drivers for WinXP

Same here, I've never had any trouble getting FS2 or even FS1 running under Windows XP.
