OH right.

Spoiler:
I thought when they said alternate universe, they ment just like... "oops wrong coordinates. Looks the same, but not"
Not like different dimension/whatever other names.
Okay I get it >_>
Thanks :D

Technically...it could be just that. A Level I parallel universe located in another Hubble Volume, separated merely by distance rather than any kind of dimension or universe gap. But that would be a heck of a long-range jump.

Bah, the other one was cooler. :D

Could any of you recommend a mod with a great story? I really likes this one.

But I don't like campaigns that are just "GAH SHIVANS KILLIN UR PPLZ."-Massive battle. No real thought. Next level
"SAME CRAP AS YESTERDAY LOLOLOL"

If you want a good story then you either want Blue Planet (as you've seen) or Ransom Arceihn's work. I think Transcend and Windmills are his best so far. The Procyon Insurgency also had a pretty good story, though it didn't really come to a satisfying conclusion.

There are a number of other pretty smart ones as well. I need to play campaigns like Storm Front to see if they should be on these lists too.

I loved Transcend, I played it last year. I'd play Windmills, but i'm looking for something bigger. 25-40 missions or more if possible. I'd love to have more full sized campaigns. Short campaigns tend to annoy me. I don't know why, but they do. I like to really be immersed in a game, not just thrown into the cockpit and told what to shoot at.
Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll probably end up playing almost every campaign here lol.

Windmills...isn't quite what you're thinking.

Seriously, play it. You're not going to be thrown into any cockpits. In fact you won't be in a cockpit at all...

There are very few good, long, story-based campaigns out right now. But in the near future you can check out the anime-inspired Wings of Dawn, TopAce's branching Descendants of Sol, and Axem's incredibly artistic and honed Vassago's Dirge (the last of which is short but will give you more 'whoa' moments than almost anything else.

If you want to go way back, there's 'Sol: A History', from the now-defunct but awesome Inferno R1 continuity. It is long and allegedly has a good story.

Spoiler:
Wait, what? I thought it was his sister on the transport? Did I miss something obvious, or was it explained in the techroom or something? Also, the first time through I didn't notice that it was the same name, though that could probably give it away... :nervous:

Nope. One is his mother, the other his wife.

You can never go wrong with the classics.  Try Derelict and Inferno/Inferno Alliance.  Both are pre-scp mods that have been patched for SCP.  Great stories, but they don't take advantage of some of the newer feature (and some of the older models in INFR1 and INFA are downright fugly)

If you thought Inferno Alliance had a good story, you might enjoy such activities as watching paint dry or measuring the average length of grass on a field. Seriously, that mod's story was utterly dull. The only attraction for that mod was the modpack.

Right after playing the original FS2 campaign I loaded BP, and didn't regret it. The only bad thing was that after 1 day of playing it was over too fast ;)

Epic story, and the end totally got me off guard. I'm seriously looking forward to the sequel.
Great job everyone who contributed!

I love you too <3

Is there a topic exclusively informing about the progress of the sequel? I just browsed through the screenshot thread and wondered were that release schedule you mentioned in a post can be found.

The release schedule is 'really bloody soon'.

You can read through this forum for 'Behind the Scenes' posts to check out features, visit the Blue Planet website (under 'hosted' on the top bar) and read prose entries under media/prose, or visit our ModDB page for some cool screenshots (just google ModDB Blue Planet War in Heaven).

I already found the moddb-link, thanks!
Now that I've read that, I'm even more jittery. Can't await to (hopefully) defend Earth   :P

This will "require" the newer MVPS i take it?

I'm just wondering on total file sizes as i'll almost definitely need to download this away from home on a faster connection. If it all gets kicked up to Freespacemods.net i can snatch it at work and stick it on my 128 gig stick.

Yes, 3.6.12 Inferno exes, 3.6.12 MediaVPs and a fully updated AoA (there will be a new version of that one as well, coming out before WiH) are mandatory.

There's a simple rule, if you see errors while loading WiH, one of these things is not present.

An update to AoA as well?

What's the total required package size then?

For those of is with AOA:DC already installed i mean.

Changes there should be minimal. You'll need a new bp_core, and maybe a new bp_visuals1. Not 100% sure at this point, but you won't have to get everything again.

How big in total is WIH with the .12 MVPs etc?

Thanks for the response by the way. :)

.12 MVPs are about as big as the .10 version. WiH will be about the same size (maybe bigger) than AoA.

This seems like a topic where thanks can be added.  ;)

You've done magnificient work here. Everything worked like charm!

This awesomeness is a true masterpiece of fs2 campaigns, and heck, all around game design. Wow! Truly interesting storyline, excellent atmosphere and technically everything just seems to fit. I'll definitely see the sequel too. Thank you for the whole team and everyone involved for this excellent gaming experience!  :p
