Title: Very strange bug... worth Mantising?
Post by: Kolgena on July 20, 2010, 04:34:26 pm
Okay. So I just saw something completely wack happen with the 5.5f launcher. After running, mounting, then exiting DaemonTools, the launcher will pop a prompt for No disc found in drive G:, insert disc and try again. (or something to that effect). Clicking any of the 3 buttons abort, cancel, retry or the x at the top will bypass this without issue. Telling the launcher to run the game will bring up the same warning again.

After a system restart, I played around with different parameters, but was unable to duplicate the bug. I mentioned Daemontools only because drive G is the virtual drive it mounts to.

This has happened to me ever since launcher 5.5e, every time it starts and every time I run Freespace 2 from it.  (And every time I change to a different FSO build.)  I don't know why it thinks it's trying to gain access to something in the removable media slots when it has absolutely no business doing anything of the kind, but it does.

Read this: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70289.0

Namely the last several posts. It has to do with a /DEBUG option being on in the compiler. Nothing to worry about, there is nothing going wrong per-se and it is in the process of being corrected.
