Title: FSO installer replacement?
Post by: Fury on July 22, 2010, 06:21:58 am
Not sure where I should have put this, so it's here. http://0install.net/

Works in win, mac and linux. Linux is by far the furthest developed, win following as .NET application. Mac version however seems to be least developed and has plenty of dependencies. However, as far as feature-set goes, it's pretty impressive.

I don't know if I like the 'anyone can install software' concept right there at the top of the page.  I mean, shouldn't you authenticate via a sudo-type mechanism to make software changes on any remotely secure system?

Still, if we can easily maintain the software set it might make a good interim solution.  Although I'm not sure it's an improvement over Turey's installer.

Turey's installer will be getting an upgrade itself pretty soon anyhow.
