Title: Reflection of my Desktop
Post by: sharkienaz on July 24, 2010, 07:25:47 pm
I'm running the game on my Mac and all reflective surfaces in the game are reflecting my desktop.  I can see my Internet Browser and other applications that are open.  It really messes with the realism and screws up the appearance of many of the ships. Any suggestions for fixing these problems?

My settings:
Mac OS 10.6.4
Inferno 3.6.12 RC4
-spec
-glow
-env
-mipmap
-missilelighting
-normal
-3dshockwave
-ambient_factor 35
-spec-exp 16.7
-spec_point 0.6
-spec_static 0.9
-spec-tube 1

 I remember this bug. It was awesome.

It's a known bug with a known fix. I don't know what it is, but I imagine someone else will be along shortly.

It's a known issue with MacOS' composited desktop. To fix it, enable the "-disable_fbo" option in the Launcher's troubleshooting section (or wherever the commandline is stored on MacOS).

Is there anyway to duplicate that for us windows users?

It sounds neat.

Thanks for the help!  The problem is fixed.  What have I lost by disabling the OpenGL?

Errr.

You didn't disable OpenGL. You disabled one bit of functionality that, ideally, shouldn't cause any performance issues. You just gotta try it out, I guess.
