Title: Missile trails

A few months ago, I started a topic about missile trails, and somebody suggested that they could use some shiny newness.
Considering that 2D stuff is my specialty I thought I'd take a crack at improving them a little.
Is there anything I need to know about the missile trails? Do replacements need to be the same size/resolution, or can new ones be made bigger and better without breaking something? Also, is somebody else working on this already?

They can be made as big as you please, but they should really be no larger than 512x512 to save on memory usage. So long as they're the same aspect ratio they ought to be fine. They also use additive blending, so be aware of that. Take a look at the MediaVPs to see what we're working with currently.

I believe the 3.6.12 MVPs contain new missile trails by Nighteyes. Am I mistaken? Can someone from the BP team verify that I am not mad?

You may want to assess their quality.

Yeah, you're right.  First time I shot off a Hornet salvo, I double-take'd at the trails.

Great news! That makes things easier.
Did he do all of them, or just the main three - newmiss1, newmiss2, and newmiss3?

I assume all of them, since--in my testing--none of the trails were anywhere close to retail.
