I have no idea. I whipped this up tonight in a couple of hours. I guess it'll work as some sort of Terran prototype or something. I'm looking at four primaries (two under the cockpit, two at the tip of each wing thing) and maybe two secondaries in a combined launcher on the starboard side. It came in at about 349 polygons.

I'm bored too...but I can't render Freespace ships :(
-
Indeed... I couldn't even get them by copy/paste. Is that the right URL?
-
Ah, there they go. The first picture looks good, but are you sure those are all the same model? The top one looks symmetrical (and I like it a lot :D) but the last is asymmetrical...

ta-da!

Oh, I see it now! :) Yeah, that's definitely the same model... it's just that the cockpit is offset by that module on the top.

Hmm... yeah. The only model I've really liked (like, to the :jaw: point) is Ryx's freighter thingy... So I'll say my stuff when i see it textured. Textures make a huge difference to me.

It's true. Check out Venom's Banshee, for example. :)

You can't see the images, WMCoolman and I can. There's got to be something strange going on. My personal webserver is down right now, so I posted those on my webserver for customers with dialup accounts. Shrike, Steak, could you guys PM me the addresses of your local DNS servers so I can try to diagnose this problem? When I get to work today (and get my own webserver back online), I'll check things out to see where the problems lay (I know they lay with Apache or BIND9, I just don't know which yet).
WMCoolman, thanks for reposting the images so that people could see them. Yes, they are the same ship. I decided that I didn't want something that looked like every other Freespace fighter, with the missile banks mounted port and starboard, symmetrically.
Stunaep, I wish I could say you'd get to see this thing textured, but you probably never will. I don't do textures, just meshes.

It's not really "freespace-ish", but it's cool. Looks a lot more like something that'd come out of a Wing Commander game...

hmmmm, very nice....good superiority fighter.....NOW GET BACK TO THE ERIS! ;) (j/k)

Belive it or not, this game FROM your Eris. While I was contemplating the port and starboard engines, I thought of the wing design for this thing. I kicked this thing out in a couple of hours. If my Truespace install at home weren't playing up, I could test its utility as a COB.
Looking at it now, several hours later, I'm seeing where some things could have been done better. If I were redoing this model today, high poly, it would have a slightly blockier feel, I think. I don't know how to say what I'm thinking... it would be more... industrial, with those smooth, waxy corners. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.
Anyone want a cheeseball fighter model?
-
as long as its under 700 polys (i prefer under 600) i'll take it :D It really does look nice, and i was joking about the Eris comment
-
Hmmm... Very nice ship. Might want to think about releasing it to the public ;)

Yah, vewy pwetty. Just need some textwers and it'll be byootiful. Sorry about the wierd speaking. I'm feeling slightly intoxicated tonight. I'm not but I feel that way. :D

Prefer under 600? HAH! Already there.
Thorn, can you work from a LW 5.5 object file? If so, I'll ICQ that to you tonight.

How do I ascertain my local DNS server? I think I know what you're talking about, but I'm not entirely sure. ;)
PS. Your assymetric approach reminds me of Aldo's GTF Vesuvius. :)

On a Win9x box: Goto Start, select Run, type "Winipcfg", click 'More Info'. They'll be listed in the second line "DNS Servers"
On a WinNT/2k: Start, Run, type 'cmd', and when that comes up type 'ipconfig /all'. In the data that scrolls by, you'll see 'DNS Servers'.
On a linux/bsd box, pull up a console and type 'cat /etc/resolv.conf'.
I'm betting your ISPs DNS servers are forward/caching only name servers and are not properly honoring CNAME resource records. If that's the case, I may have to alter my DNS setup to properly handle such crippled servers.
Oh and where can I find Venom's Banshee and Aldo's Vesuvius?
