I'm wondering if anyone else who have low-end Radeon 1k series video card is experiencing these same issues. All new skyboxes made by HerraTohtori look like these, despite using 2048^2 textures (non-adv).

Same problem occurs in other WiH skyboxes and BP: AoA in mission "...with Vast Seas" but not in mission "Curse of Prescience" which uses much older skybox. BP: AoA nebula skybox in "First Contact" missions also works fine.
I've tried both FSO 3.6.12 and mediavps 3.6.12 shaders, as well as latest trunk builds and The E's experimental shaders which allows Shader Model 2.0 cards and even Radeon 1k series to use speculars and normal maps without problems and most importantly, without any atiogl trickery.
This Radeon X1300 is in my work pc so I don't intend to do any gaming on it, but I'm still curious if other 1k series cards have same problem.

I've seen weird stuff on my 9800pro when it runs out of video memory but it's usually on explosions or weapon trails not background.

Well, HerraTohtori figured out the problem rather quickly. The skyboxes which have this problem have six maps and they're uncompressed. The problem goes away if I convert one of the six uncompressed 2048^2 maps to DXT1. I guess BP staff now has to ponder whether we should re-release skybox maps in DXT1 for non-adv users at the expense of quality.

It seems X1250 is able to use these skyboxes without artifacts. I would appreciate if community members who have any 1k-series Radeon could chime in and tell me if BP: AoA and WiH non-advanced skyboxes work without artifacts.
I tested skybox maps in bp-adv-visuals.vp and bp2-adv-visuals.vp and they work fine on X1300 as they are DXT1 compressed. So please try without these vp's if you get artifacts in skyboxes. Thank you.
