Title: radar icons
Post by: Klaustrophobia on August 20, 2010, 11:27:40 pm
after finding them linked in some other topic i can't remember now, i downloaded and installed both the MVP radar icons and BP ones.  all it seems to have done for BP is add GIANT red boxes that take up nearly all of the radar for enemy destroyers.  what have i done wrong?  does 3D radar have to be enabled?

Yes, the Radar icons only work properly with the 3D radar.

The MediaVP ones work just fine with 2D radar. :nervous:

If I knew why these ones don't, I'd have fixed them...

For me, with 3D radar, the capital ship icons are small, but easy to tell what they are. Fighters on the other hand, are gianormus in comparison and can potentially cover entire quadrants of the radar.

Which is why I despise radar icons. They just don't appeal to me visually...

really i just wanted to see what they looked like.  if they make the radar hard to use, i'll probably turn them back off.  but since 3d radar is already hard to use, i'll just have to pass on them for BP.

I've already got to the stage where I take them for granted. Tried playing without them earlier and I can't believe I used to make do with dots.

I've also had a problem with icons on 2D radar, they were so small that I couldn't tell them apart.
Strange, because I tested FoTG and it's icons show up properly and are indeed helpfull.
