Title: voicesdarks' problem
Post by: voicesdark on September 02, 2010, 10:17:06 pm
Hey all I just started playing this tonight and right from the start there's a problem I'm having with the final release. I'm running on windows 7 and it's running great except the mouse movement is very erratic. I've tried changing all the sensitivity settings both in game and out with no luck. does anyone know how to correct this because I'd really like to be able to play this game with using the mouse.

Split out of the original topic.

Please read the FSOpen FAQ (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.0).

I'm having the same problem, and after scouring the FAQ (so much as typing "mouse" into the find bar and having 0 highlights) I found no help of any sort...

I haven't got the money for any kind of decent joystick, nor am I into other Space Sims enough to desperately need one, so ARE there any fixes known to make mouse play less douche-esque?

For what it's worth, I use a Logitech Track-Ball mouse. Visible here. (http://www.thetechnologyblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/cordless-trackman-mouse-300x266.jpg)

Is the problem in mission or in the menu system?

Problem may be codeside (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=72624.0). Seems there are some combinations of mouse driver/hardware, OS and FSO that just don't play nice together.

Are you using the latest version of Zathras?

If so, try this FSO build to see if it solves your problem (it solves the problem for me):

Well, now that I read into the problem on Sushi's topic, I realized I don't quite have the same one. For me it's simply a matter of the sensitivity never being high enough for me to easily play on my mouse. I tried switching over to my other conventional style laser mouse, but I wind up having to move all across my desk and push everything out of the way just to try and catch up with an enemy that is dancing with me. Do there happen to be any mods in existence that fix this problem?

no. turn up mouse sensitivity ingame and raise dpi on your mouse. an old 1600dpi logitech mx518, with one dot from full sensitivity in-game is performing superbly.
