Title: Departure error messages
Post by: starbug on September 05, 2010, 02:55:38 pm
I am having problems with a mission i am working on, i keep getting an error message when i save it "alpha 2,3 or 4 requires a valid departure target". The mission was working fine until i added a Hecate to the mission, since then whenever i click save this error keeps popping up. Now when i boot the game up the mission seems to work fine and i have checked the wing editor and it say's false which is correct. So what does this error mean? I just hope i don't have to start this mission again cos it will be 2 days work down the plug hole  :(

Oh yeah i am using Fred2_open_3_6_12r_INF with the blue planet war in heaven mod

Try this.  Disband Alpha wing.  Make sure all ships are set to not depart and have hyperspace as the target.  Recreate the wing.  See if you still have the issue.

You may wish to create a backup file before doing that, though. Disbanding a wing usually breaks events and departure/arrival cues connected to that wing, and it's quite boring to bring them back to their status quo.

Well you could go the notepad route and see if the individual ships have departure cues and anchors that aren't default.

Ok i have tried that, but its still doing it with the new alpha wing, i even deleted the ships and put new ones in. I just don't get this, it was working fine until i added that Hecate, but i can't think why adding that would screw up my fighter wing as the event for the destroyers arrival has nothing to do with the alpha wing. If i post a copy of the mission, will someone take a look at it and see if there is anything wrong with it, or if i have done anything wrong please?

You don't have a departure cue set on the ships, do you? They're not set to depart via a fighterbay or anything?

Check it out in Notepad.

I don't see any departure cues in notepad. It say's false and Hyperspace in the depart box, which it normally says. Anyway here is the mission. It requires Blue Planet War in Heaven as i make use of the AI in it and music. Please bear in mind that this is not finished i am only about half way through making it. Also i know i am not the greatest writer and there a few spelling errors but i will get around to that later.

$Departure Location: Docking Bay
$Departure Anchor: <error>
$Departure Cue: ( false )

Edit those lines back to default in notepad for each ship.

Also make sure you are using 3.6.12 final.  That bug was fixed.
