version 3.6.12r
It will be normal for a while, then it will start doing this, though only when there's the critical structural electric arc thing. After it starts doing this, it will do so frequently, but not always at seemingly random times. The solution for now is when it starts doing this, exit FS2, then reboot my computer.

I have the same problem, but since it don't crash my computer...
I think it's an ATI issue, since I wasn't having any problem like this with my previous card (7950 GT). Probably ****ty drivers.
-
It is an ATI issue, but it can be easily resolved with a small file that I have lying around.

Pleeeeeease ? ;)

Come to think of it, I haven't needed this file for some time. But it is attached.

Note that that file needs to be unpacked, and the vp placed in the mediavps_3612 directory.

Indeed, extract it there.

Thank you very much

Awesome. I recommend including that in the mediavps download for our other Ati users out there.

Thing is I haven't used it myself in some time, and I don't seem to need it.

Sadly this fix didn't work for me.
(My graphics card is 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4670)
Any other suggestions to fix this issue?
-
Upgrade to the latest ATI drivers. 10.4 worked for me.
-
Well, is this solved or not?
-
This was solved for Kosh (hence the topic edit). Not sure about the new guy (who posted after the topic edit).

Hate to bump this, but recently I had a chance to get back into FS2 again using the above mentioned FSO build and media vps.......the problem has come back, big time. While it may have been temporarily solved, evidently it decided not to be solved anymore. :(

Did you update your GPU drivers in the meantime?
