Title: What about The Centaur Project?
Post by: ktistai228 on September 10, 2010, 02:25:47 pm
I quite enjoyed those campaigns. The single problem is that they'd just break my Open version of FreeSpace after I played them in Retail. No idea why. So, would anyone want to give them a go?

It's always a good approach to contact the original campaign creator first and see wheter or not he's available to do it himself. I'm pretty sure he's been active recently, but I don't remember his nickname...

He appears to be active. I'm sending a PM to him right now.

If he's willing to upgrade TCP1&2, I'd be glad to help. ATM I'm the only member of the FSCRP working on something and should definitely have the time to work on TCP once my current WIP is done. :)

TCP technically shouldn't be broken, being a purely retail mod...

mobius, regarding the FRSCP, what about the titan rebellion campaign which needed to be finished? Did you guys finish it already? or did you quit the project (hopefully no)...

Pre-emptive testing would be really appreciated. Even if not broken, the campaign could take full advantage of a number of enhancements (starfields, new SEXPs, etc. etc.) which weren't available back then.

The FSCRP has serious organizational problems: I'm working on a campaign at the moment (sorry, I can't tell you more), and don't know what the others are doing. :(

Thanks for the heads up Mobius :)

The latest FSO release I tested with was 3.6.10.
TCP was running fine on that version.
If I uderstand well from the first post the campaign was played on FS retail, then another campaign (?) was not running well on FSO.
If that's the case TCP was probably installed for retail FS.
To play it in FSO you need to install the FSO patch from here:
http://www.pgrunt.com/tcp/index.htm
Then move the campaign file (ATCP.vp) from the main Freespace2 directory into the one created by the patch.
The patch readme explains all this in detail.

I hope it helps.

What about TCP2? And have you tried to play TCP with FSO 3.6.12 and the latest Media VPs?

1 and 2 are in the same vp file now so I tested both with 3.6.10.
It should work in FSO and use the media vps as long as the ATCP.vp file is placed into a separate mod folder.
This is true for all mods under FSO.
Retail FS expects the vp file in the main FS2 folder and then the mod overwrites some of the stock table files.
Just remove all modded vp files from the main folder and they won't break FSO.

I started to work on chapter 3 a year ago but there is a lot to do so I can't promise anything atm.

Awesome. Do you mind testing compatibility with 3.6.12, too? :)
