Title: Why doesn't it blow up?

I have heard it is a bug, but is there anyway around it?

I want to detonate a cargo container with a special explosion, of a very high level 80000 or so.  However I "self-destruct" it after 30 seconds and it just goes to 0 hull and sits there; seemingly forever.

Is there anyway around it, I really need it to blow up on cue!

Try setting the destruct damage to a lower value, like 100.  See if it blows up then.

Usually, the amount of time it takes for something to blow up is directly proportional to the amount of damage it deals.

keep it at 80000 and add the kamakazie flag in ship properties and it should make a nice boom.

Ahh... okay. Its very important that you grind the gunpowder very finely so that it will burn better. Now, what kind of primer are you using to trigger the explosion? Remember to keep it totally dry. I think a remote electronic trigger is best, as the electrical spark is very reliable. Make sure the container is sealed against vacuum, of course because we all know that you cant have explosions of this type with out plenty of oxygen. Get yourself a good tight-band transmitter for the trigger, and you're set!

I had the same sorta problem with an AWACS. It was just a simple slaughtering mission to test my new missiles but the AWACS got down to 10 percent and became invincible. Why the hell can't you blow stuff up once you've disabled all its systems? Bug or design?

I had the explody problem with a meson. They take ages to blow, even with a s-d sexp. I hit it, waited, flew in to see what had went wrong a few minutes later and boooooooooooooooooooom
