Title: Extremely low FPS in AoA
Post by: Myn on September 20, 2010, 03:58:24 pm
Hi, I couldn't find a thread for this so here's my post.

I just started playing BP and loaded up the AoA mod last night and started playing. I noticed some FPS lag in the first mission and had an FPS that varied between 30-60. Then when I got to mission 2 the FPS dropped to 15 and the game was simply not playable. Mission 2 was set in the Sol asteroid belt.

My system specs are:

Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1066Hz
Video: Nvidia 240M GT
Yes I'm running on a laptop.

This is the command line from FSO launcher:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Freespace2\fs2_open_3_6_12d_INF.exe -mod blueplanet,mediavps_3612 -nomotiondebris -no_vsync -cache_bitmaps -snd_preload

I removed the MV_Advanced and MV_AnimGlows from the Mediavps folder to see if that would help and it didn't, at least not by much more than 2 fps maybe.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

change the exe you are using from the launcher from "fs2_open_3_6_12d_INF.exe" to "fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe"

The "d" stands for debug build, which is not for playing.

Not sure if that will fix your problem, but you can start with that.

Rodo, you are a genius. Haha I had no idea the "d" meant debug. Thank you very much for the help. The game runs well now.

I'm certainly no genius, but I'm glad that helped you.

Now go and enjoy
