Hey everyone!
I've installed FreeSpace SCp using Turey's installer... worked great.
Spent the last several days trying to get the launcher working out and/or the fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe in the menu.
I finally figured out how to get the fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe menu items working for each individual campaign and the settings that I like... YAY.
Loaded several campaigns and they look awesome... however the game play has an issue.
The last time I played FS, and I used my mouse, I was using Windows as my main OS... now using LinuxMint 9 (Ubuntu based).
I am able to use my mouse now, however it is limited. Meaning that if I were to move the mouse in one direction it stops at a certain point as opposed to being 360 degrees of free motion. It does not matter which direction I move the mouse, it stops... like it is stuck in a box and can't escape.
Also, there are various certain areas that are inaccessible... and this also changes with each load of the game. Does the resolution have to be set to certain resolutions?
I am currently running it at 1440x900.
Any ideas?
BTW, here is the command that I run to launch each campaign from the menu:
wine ~/wine/drive_c/Games/FreeSpaceSCP/fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe "-mod fsport -spec -glow -env -mipmap -missile_lighting -3dshockwave -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -ship_choice_3d -weapon_choice_3d -3dwarp -snd_preload -ambient_factor 70 -spec_exp 8.2 -spec_tube 1.0 -spec_point 8.6 -spec_static 3.5"
Thank you and God bless,
Johnathan

Have you tried the native linux builds of FSO? There's no need to use wine, if you use the linux executables....
-
Ah, I didn't know they were there... All I've used FreeSpace was in Windows... having had Linux for almost a year now.... just never got around to it...
Are the executables:
fs2_open_3_6_12_INF_d
fs2_open_3_6_12_INF_r
How do you run them?
If those are not the commands, can you please tell me what they are?
BTW, I've found that the problem doesn't come up when the game runs in a windows... it only happens when it is running fullscreen. What switch do I use to use only a windowed environment instead of fullscreen?
Thank you and God bless,
Johnathan

Just to make sure, here's the link to the linux exes: http://swc.fs2downloads.com/builds/LINUX/fs2_open_3_6_12_INF.tar.bz2
Unpack them, and place them in the same directory as the FS2 data.
Then read this page (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Fs2_open_on_Linux/Graphics_Settings) and this page (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Fs2_open_on_Linux/StartUp_Script) for further setup info. You should also try wxLauncher (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=67950.0) or YAL (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=53206.0), those two are equivalent to the standard Launcher found on Windows.
