I'm unable to start the War in Heaven as I keep getting this error message:

I have redownloaded Blue Planet 2 and Blue Planet
Am using Inferno build 3.6.12
and have both Blue Planet and Blue Planet 2 folders in the FS2 folder.
I have attached the FS2 Open log file, let me know if it doesn't show up and I'll just paste it to here. Thanks!

I'm just going to facepalm here and ask why people keep running FSO in 640x480. Don't they realize that the Video tab in the launcher has all sorts of lovely resolutions to choose from, and if they know that, why do they keep running FSO at a resolution that was on its way out when FS2 was released?

Actually, it's not immediately intuitive that one should go to the video tab and check things out, since resolution is normally set in-game in PC titles these days. And really we should ship 640x480 interface elements; it was, I believe, just an oversight that we didn't.
It does at least give people a nice reminder to bump the resolution up. :D

But even in plain vanilla FS2 you had the option of changing the resolution in the launcher, even though the only options were 640x480 and 1024x768 in either 16 or 32 bit.
You just had to hit the "Detect 3D cards" (or somesuch) button before the the options showed up.

Indeed, but that was last millennium. These days resolution changes are usually handled via an in-game options menu.

I've played a few somewhat recent games that have graphics options in a launcher. Dawn of War 1, MW4: Mercenaries, your average console port, etc.

While not being form the last millenium, DoW 1 is already six years old, so even "somewhat recent" is a bit off (DoW 2 being a Steam-only game got rid of any external options unfortnately, except fiddling with the ini files maybe). And MW4 is even older.
But what both games have going for them is, that you can select the resolution both in the launcher and ingame. I hate it when games only have the selection ingame.

Still awesome, especially since that years-old engine still has an active modding scene.

At least Relic was kind enough to keep their usual command line options. "-Nomovies" for the win.
