Situation of TAC: about half the intended models done, half of the completed ones are on a computer that goes beyond dead, in the computer sense, but they can be recovered by the time anything gets finished.
Problem: Nearly all of the models are WAY beyond FreeSpace's poly limit
Problem: Many of the (replaceable, if necessary) models require physics and technical advances the FS engine does not have
Problem: I loathe TrueSpace, and will not touch the thing. Neither, it seems, will anyone else.
So...

What's with the slashes before apostrophes? BB code problem, or this keyboard?

I voted 2 but I wanted to vote 4 as well :(.

I voted #2, but #3 is deceptively tempting.
-
Rest assured, I plan to do #3 at any rate.
HyperVoxels are so much fun...

BOOM!
Well, a small one.

I call it "Fun with Landscaping" and decided to leave out the explanations about the gigantic, nearly 100-year-old orbital defense lasers.

...And the pyromaniacs have it.
Perhaps I should take up theater or something.
-
ok, this is going to sound really stupid, but what is TAC?

Twice dead, to be repeated folly of this forum's least stable modder- though I take issue with that last bit.have doubts about that last bit. It's basically my ill-fated TC, The Archon Campaign. Deals with post-Lucifer Sol, which rapidly becomes possibly the least pleasant place in the galaxy to be, unless you have a deathwish and a predilection for plasma guns and superweapons. I keep getting about half of the way through, suffering some basically terminal setback (compound virus, hard disk wipes, things of that nature), and deciding to turn it into a sort of full-detail SF universe, replete with civilian stuff and enough polys to jam any CPU. Since last time only two people volunteered to help, and they didn't get much done before my computer did a fair display of how dead a computer can get, I've given up on making it a campaign entirely for the second time, and likely there will be a third. In the meantime, I've got all this stuff I've gotta offload somehow.

Yea, that's why I voted 2, I mean if it's gonna die, at least archive it, you never know
-
Actually, I do no. After the second vote on here, I decided this was a bad idea and proceeded to do what I was planning to do in the first place...:D
Expect the Unnamed Incorporated (note to stupid people: that means I don't have a name, not that that is it) to appear soon.
-
I liked your original story, it's a pity you lost everything.
What about the source code? Does that factor in here?
-
Source code? To an FS conversion?
And I managed to keep most of the fic. I haven't given up on doing SOMETHING with it, eventually, but I really can't complete it until more than a handful of people are willing to sign on. I mean, it's worth a couple months and a lot of work just to find someone else to do the TS conv and heirarchies alone...
-
:wtf: how did this get brought up?
-
Odd... the dates are all old... yet its up here...
I was wondering why I didnt remember replying to this.. and why Setekh has...
-
Knight templar brought it up.
-
I don't think he did
-
When you vote in a poll, it gets bumped.
-
Knight templar brought it up.
notta, i saw it up here, started to read and vote and crap then was bout' to respond when i saw the dates. then i asked.
When you vote in a poll, it gets bumped.
there we go

...:wtf:
Anyway, now that it IS a TC for the planned improved FS2, I guess the source code does figure in. Minimally- I don't absolutely NEED anything but the poly count limit and the proprietary movie format dealt with with my current setup, but I could do with a few other changes...
Anyway, yeah, let this die again. I'll let y'all know when I've gotten far enough to release something, or when the FSSCP ever gets far enough to allow me to put together a demo, whichever comes first.
