Title: Oh sweet, a LEGO MMO
Post by: Mongoose on October 08, 2010, 07:30:48 pm
You can have your Minecraft...I wanna be a mini-fig.  And the trailer (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/08/lego-universe-is-live-for-pre-orderers-full-launch-coming-octob/) is narrated by Captain Picard.  Freakin' awesome. :D If I had any monay, I'd be all over this.

Of course it's leet.  You get to build LEGO stuff with other people.  That sounds awexome.

So... it's like playing with LEGOs.

Meh, all I ever really did with mine was build models by-the-book.  I mean, I got a hell of a lot of mileage out of playing with them, but I wasn't into the design side of things, and I never did it with someone else.  This seems like it could be a lot of fun.  I remember fooling around with something similar a long time ago that was essentially an unlicensed LEGO multiplayer game, but I think that got shut down.

Good sir...

How could you not create anything without the book? Where is your creative insight, man?

GOOD GOD MAN, WHY?!!

So... is this WoW with Legos or can I build my quasi-Omega Destroyer and conquer the galaxy with it?

I've never made any claims about having a drop of creativity whatsoever, I assure you. :p

I'm not going to play this until I can be certain I can build my Deep Freeze Defender (http://media.peeron.com/pics/inv/setpics/6973-1.1105158270.jpg) and fly around in it.

Woo, that's on the (incredibly dusty) shelf right above my bed. :D

It's on one of my display shelves too. I have made a few changes to the rear section though.

Those are exactly my thoughts. This looks like it has great ideas, but I hate pay per month games. :p

I never really did understand the virulent anti-MMO sentiment that seems to exist around here.  I mean, I'm flat broke, and even if I wasn't, there's never really been much in that genre that's jumped out and grabbed me...but if there was something like this game that I seriously thought I'd like, I wouldn't have many qualms about forking over a few bucks a month to play it.  We all pay for a bunch of crap every month that we don't strictly need, so what's the problem with substituting a few fast-food meals for a game subscription?
