So you work for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation?

Or perhaps you meant Steve Ballmer? :p

At any rate, congrats.

they'd have to know to google that :D

and yes i'm fairly disapproving to their Core OS group... even now that i know WHY the core OS group is the way it is.  Understanding has blunted the hostility though.

Just don't be swallowed up and decide everything you ever release should be so deeply dependent on MS oddities that it could never be ported to Linux and Mac.

Oh, and don't turn into a Bing fanboy either.

none of those will happen :D

just because i'm working on Windows Server Cluster/Windows Fabric doesn't mean i'm goin to make my code depdnant on MS - i consider that bad coding - fails portability/maintainability testing.

Yes. What's good for the Office team is not good for everyone.

Can we get Win 7 now for a employee discount?
Can we expect that the next service pack has a buildin PCS?
What's the chances of getting some coders for the SCP?

 :P

Don't look at me funneh! We have someone on the source, and it'd be awesome if "the company" help us out here, wouldn't it?  :P

i can tell you.

it's because back in the 1980s and most of the 1990s the Core OS devs completely ignored most of the bug reports from the Core OS testers as such things as "the user would never do that!" combined with their refusal to break reverse compatibility with apps even when that reverse compatibility requires emulating bugged behavior
Title: Re: I now work for the man...
Post by: Rodo on October 21, 2010, 12:57:38 pm
oh my....reverse compatibility...

but wait, they're still doing that, Win7 has that emulator thingy right?

on topic: congrats for the new job!

Can you convince them to make Games for Windows Live suck less?  Or perhaps make it suck less yourself?

Apparently, it's a ***** to deal with and everyone who has to program functionality for it hates it.

Get them to call the next OS version Windows 9 to confuse everyone. :p

One of the guys i knew at school was working for Microsoft as an internship or something for a while, when we found out we all started making the obligatory jokes until :

"Ha ha--I MADE $25,000!"

Damnit. evil really does pay well.

I want IPX support back in 64bit Vista/7... or at least a darn emulator that'll convert IPX to TCP/IP.
It's possible in 32bit supposedly... I even bypassed 64bit digital signature requirements and it won't work. Arrgh.

Oh, and congrats on finding a job in such a cruddy economy.

While you're there, can you prevent things like this from occuring? :P

Spoiler:
I was copying files out of my Macrium backup, and I found that Windows was reporting something as 64.0 PB in size. I tracked it down to a file buried in some MSN user stuff. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show Microsoft and that size. :P

as stated previous - Windows Server Cluster and Windows Fabric - not Core OS, programs that run on it that are bundled as part of the server edition.

Spleatthrid.

We now return you to Kazan's professional life at Microsoft.

Which isn't the right place to air your grievances with whatever crimes to humanity you think MS has committed.
