Title: Very low priority FRED tweak
Post by: Black Wolf on October 23, 2010, 05:00:37 am
Any way of adding a checkbox to the ship editor for "Clickable"?

The idea being that when you put something big in, like a ground model, it becomes extremely difficult to click on anything else in the mission, since this big ground pof takes up all the space. You can get around that by throwing it up in the air somewhere, but when you're trying to position scenery that should intersenct the gorund, like rocks and trees and such, it's really annoying having to keep moving the ground up and down. Once set to non clickable, you'd still be able to access the ship through the dropdown in thwe ships editor, so it'd be easy to turn off.

As I say, very low priority as it's purely a convenience thing, but it is quite irritating as it stands.

You can hide objects in FRED, but that doesn't solve the scenery problem (it's easier than moving up and down though).
Such option would indeed be nice.

You can always pick what you want to move from the ship list and lock it.  Keeps you from accidentally moving something else.

Doh. I've been using this bloody program for more than a decade, and I forgot about the lock button.

My bad, carry on.

I've always said that FRED is one of those hours to learn, lifetime to master deals. :D Occasionally stuff like that catches me out too.
