I never thought I'd say this but, since I have an apparent lack of knoledge in C code, I need a programmer on the team that can (and wants to) play around with the FS2 source code.
Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested

vadar_1 was messing with the source code yesterday...

hmmm, untouchable, you might want to think about download size. no one is going to want to download an entire game of 20+mbs for every project. suggest you wait until those programmers come out with a new engine and use that. just imagine 20 some odd hosted projects each using their own engine, or even 20 different patches: thats a lot of downloading and even worse, its a lot of different versions of fs2.

btw, Interplay might see it and sue you for $500,000 or something

technically they cant as long as you dont charge anything for it, intergay has a copyright on the thing but not a patent

Exactly... Its one thing to add vps or swap out data folders... but to change the executable and core files is really pushing it. I think for the time being you should use the retail engine.

I suspect that we'll eventually settle on one core upgrade.... it's silly to have one per campaign.
-
Gonna take one sweet long time to do it though
-
well, each campaign could have its own exe....

Perhaps, but it would complicate things to a point where there would be a humorously large amount of exe files.

thats what i was thinking, although i do intend on a separate exe for unpacking the vps and stuff, with a number of utility options. basically, a new startup menu for the engine.
