This is my attempt at recreating the GTVA Logo at hi-res.
-
No expert but didn't the GTVA logo have something in the gold area?
-
nice!
/me adds to Random FS Stuff folder
EDIT: @FUBAR: no
-
if i remember correctly the animated version had a flare effect or some such
-
We have achieved consensus: approval is given.
Excellent work.
-
Flawless.
-
I was about to say that the proportions looked off, but then I remembered that I play in 16:9.
Excellent work! Stick it on a mottled green/black background and it'd be a perfect high-res replica!
/stealing this for my FS2 album art.

It's already PNG with a transparent background.

Not sure if this is going to work, but here goes anyway: I cropped the original PNG down ab it and an using it as icon for FSO on my recent Linux Mint install. Nothing major, just loaded it into GIMP and told it to autocrop, but it gets rid of all that space around the logo making it easier to work with.

Woops, sorry I rearranged my Photobucket. It's back up.

That one is much more stylized. It looks good too. My attempt is at creating a hi-res replacement for the original in ANIs and cutscenes.
-
Hmm, the glow seems to be clipped off on yours, mixael, it has a sharp edge all around.
-
That's PNG for you...

test test

I don't know... though if I'm the only one seeing it, it could well be due to my screen.
-
I don't know what to tell you.. this is a render of the same frame as JPG.

/me fills his desktop with six versions of the GTVA logo.

JPG doesn't preserve transparency ... but that is huuuuuge, perfect for everything I can think of.
I seriously need to find time off to put all your rendered logos to good use...

It looks like he might have re-uploaded the GIMP resized image, which has the screwed up clipped glow (I'm seeing it too). This one is the original that Michael posted.

Aaaah, much better :)

Why is this scaled down? My original render is 1920x1080... Also, I don't use GIMP.

michael, it almost looks like you took this one and put it on the OP. Not sure if that's what you did, but the same glow clipping is visible in both. As for why it's not 1080p, I dunno. I just took the .png before the image host killed it.
Edit: closer inspection reveals that the OP has a completely new file. It doesn't match either LSD or my attachment and looks closer to the vanilla shape. So, as for why there's glow clip, I have no clue. Maybe when you resized it down from the original huge size, it killed the gradient with a sharpen effect? The aliasing seems to be another side effect of whatever happened to the original image.
-
Both the PNG I posted and the JPG are straight, untouched, non-resized renders from the source files. I did nothing to them. Just rendered them as different formats.
-
Well, there's a very obvious halo on the .png in the first post. Put it on a white background and observe the fine grey border. Maybe it's photobucket screwing things up though.
Personally, I'm already ecstatic with the .jpeg, since it's good enough for me (I don't need a working alpha), but I just thought to let you know so you can fix it up if needed.
-
He's right. Right-click on the PNG and select 'View Image' and there it is.
-
Resurrecting an old thread to offer you the GTVA Elite Logo
(http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk264/mjnmixael/FreeSpace%20Logos/GTVAElite.png)
Which apparently also has the alpha clipping... but it's easily fixable in photoshop or something.
(Note: I probably won't bother to fix it myself cause I will use the source files for all my work. If some wants to fix either of these and post them here, I'm sure everyone would be grateful.)
-
So the one thing that always REALLY bugged me about animations with that logo was the fact that the two closing metal bits weren't hemispheres, they were part of an ellipse, so when they closed they looked like a pair of giant metal buttocks.
-
What's that weird halo around the gtva logo?
Aside from that, good looking

I'm guessing its where the transparency ends and the white halo starts that iirc is on the original

Yup, that's it. I never did figure out what causes that cause the Source files don't have it. I never fixed it cause when I need the GTVA Logo, I always just use the source.

 Yes, exactly!

"Kiss my shiny, metal ass!"

Here, have a giant metal butt.

That is one nice metal ass.

Oh god. From the thumbnail, the round divets look like fingers around a goatse.
-
Actually, the whole .ani is basically a goatse
-
So's the rear of the Ra, which was never used in singleplayer.
-
Yeah but the Ra was on purpose and pretty hilarious
