I bought myself a 4 pack of tilt a couple of days ago. I was a dumbass and drank 2 of them in succession after eating dinner. The level of alcohol in them isn't particularly that high. A can of 16 ounce tilt is 6.6% by volume. It has 1.056 shots of alcohol in it. No biggie, and it was cheap.
Later that night was a great head ache and my body going hay wire with my heart beating crazy and random spurts of pain. I figured perhaps i drank too many of them. Probably the fact that it's a piece of **** energy drink along the lines of sobe energy and full throttle. Those two are famous for a smattery of ingredients for energy, and mostly sugar. But, tilt sure was the kicker for me. No more, hell i'm just going to avoid energy drinks from now on.
Drinks that may make you feel like you're not so drunk and you grab another of the same type landing you in the ER drunk and having a heart attack (that didn't happen to me, i just calmed down as best as i could instead, but i'm sure it's happened to others). What's with integrating uppers with a downer?
-
Yea back in the good old days we didn't have anything more potent then Dew. We made up for it with yellow jackets though. Just think they used to give scripts for those for just being tired in school from drinking all night.
-
You were mixing an upper and a downer. You didn't expect your body to react adversely? I've never been able to wrap my head around jagerbomb-love for this very reason.
-
The best energy drink in the world? A glass of milk and water (separately). Seriously.
-
Isn't milk a sedative though? Or at least, I hope it is; I've drank three glasses in quick succession late at night in the hope it might send me to sleep. :nervous:
-
If you need to sleep, look no further than beer. It works wonders :D

I'm pretty sure it was the levels of caffeine, taurine, guarana, and most of all to put the nail in the coffin for me in specifically an energy drink being excessive sugar. I was being a dumbass and was thinking i was just buying something along the likes of nothing more than a soda mixed with alcohol sort of like smirnoff or whatever. Energy drinks are usually labelled pretty clearly pointing out that they're energy drinks. Tilt is not labelled like this. I know better now.
I have a fast metabolism. Drinking an energy drink is rare for me, i just like the taste of rockstar (which i consider to be a higher quality energy drink) while i split the can with a friend so i don't screw myself over. I can't even handle half a cup of coffee. Caffeine is severe over drive for my body. Usually i just get really fatigued and my knees are shaking from half a cup of coffee. And my own dumbass still rarely splits a rockstar (i really do find it tasty). Aside from the rare rockstar, i have an aversion to energy drinks, caffeine, etc.
Drinking two ****ty low quality energy drinks was not good for me at all. I'm sure the addition of alcohol in it didn't help any, but it wasn't the primary cause of my symptoms. New lesson to self, if not clearly labelled and looks like an energy drink, it probably is. I'll stick with beer, hard liquor, and mikes hard from now on.

i prefer to increase my caffeine the natural way, by drinking large quantities of soft drinks and sometimes coffee. energy drinks are an abomination.
the same goes for booze. im gonna drink real beer and booze and if its not one of those it might as well not be alcohol at all.
and if you want to get caffine and booze at the same time, thats what irish coffee is for.

Newsflash: Energy drinks are not good for you, either.
Generally, the ingestion of potent metabolic precursors at high levels when not sufficiently active to use them immediately in metabolic activity is... well, stupid. Mixing alcohol in just compounds the error. Unlike the Gatorade of my youth, which was essentially just water and electrolytes, new energy drinks actually contain substances that are absorbed and used directly in cellular metabolism. They're also combined with stimulants, like caffeine, in order to produce that psychological feeling of "energy." Trouble is, the body isn't designed to take boosts of those precursors directly except under very specific (read: flight/flight, short duration) circumstances.
Even someone at a peak level of activity in athletic exercise does not metabolize at a sufficiently high rate to necessitate the use of energy drinks. They're a sham, and a medically-dangerous one at that.
However, they're not being forced off the shelves by the FDA or Health Canada, so ultimately it's up to the individual to do their research and make an educated decision. Heh. Yeah, right. Who's buying the shots of vodka and Red Bull this weekend?
-
Man, me and a buddy finished off a fifth of white rum by mixing 2/3 rum 1/3 redbull the entire bottle.
It was enjoyable.
-
id rather just drink the vodka straight.
-
It would be nice if these drinks were forced off of the shelves. Making soda go in the direction of energy drinks is horrid. I guess people can't stick with sugar carbonated water anymore.
The best source of energy i've found is food, especially fruit.
-
It is also related to your liver. It is focusing on all the suger and stuff in the energy drink. It therefore ignores all the alcohol, which goes straight to your head.
It is a known problem here in Holland. Breezers (Alcohol + Sugar) are quite popular here. Even though they do not have all that much more alcohol compared to beer, drinking Vodka all night is healthier.
(edited for clarity).

I tasted one once, it was disgusting. It almost tasted like piss - seriously (not that I know what that really tastes like). It was a concentrated one, but still...
The other 95% of it went in the bin. It was a freebie, so no big deal... :P
-
I like the tanginess. Rockstar started using sucrolose so it doesn't taste as good anymore. Just staying away from energy drinks period now.
-
I had a friend consume 8 Mothers' in 10 minutes, ended up in the ER. That was a fun night
-
its probably safer to smoke crack.
-
1 Four loko gets me tipsy
2 is maximum drunk without becoming sick.
It's a handy measurement tool and its cheap

tipsy? lol

I have never liked Reb Bull mixed with Vodka. Not by the taste and not by what it does to my body. I don't drink coffee either, so caffeine has a huge effect (Coca-Cola can make me lose my sleep). Red Bull is even worse, I too feel that it affects my heart, and not in a positive manner. I would probably end in ER too if tried to drink more than one of those.
For some reason some of my friends like Red Bull in various alcoholic beverages. I stay with Fisherman's Friends or something less heavy, preferably beer.

over 24 shots of vodka and tequila have an adverse effect on my memory.

While I can't imagine a thing like this... I do know a dude who's so up on e-drinks that he constantly turns the temp down to like 63 degrees F and looks all puzzled when peeps start complaining.
