Title: Getting Started Guide
Post by: headdie on November 08, 2010, 04:09:32 am
FYI I was flicking through the getting started page linked at the top of the screen to see what is in there ( don't remember ever looking through it before now) and noticed that the instructions for setting up the launcher are out of date as they refer to fs2_open_3_6_10.exe

It's a wiki. :p If you see a problem, jump in and fix it :D

Of course, if you don't think you have the technical nonce (I admit, I don't), then this thread is the next best thing.

A bigger issue is that the installer currently claims to be installing 3.6.10; it actually installs 3.6.12.

Abwuh? You've done an enormous amount of Frontlines stuff on the Wiki. How would you not have the technical know-how to edit plain text?

Fixed it, anyway.

A fixed installer is forthcoming.  Vacation interfered with things.

I thought the changes that needed to be made were technical in nature rather than just changing a number - an area of FS I'm not very well informed on. I didn't bother to check  and confirm because for some reason the satellite connection up here at work wont let me log onto the wiki... actually, that's not quite true - it lets me log on, but then as soon as I click a link (such as "Edit this page") I get logged out. Very annoying, but it basically means no wiki editage for me until Friday.
