Have they finally ended that so-far annoying series? I've only read up to Edge of Victory 2, but I haven't been very impressed.
And HLP is as good a place as any to talk about anything. :) Remember that.

ummmm theforce.net has good content and a message board for general SW discussion.
Check out the 'troops' quicktime movie too. It's priceless

Bah, never read any of those. I don't like the premise and they're hard to find around here (as is any sci-fi)...

Yah, I'd go to theforce.net too. They have pretty good forums over there, although they do hand out a bunch of bans for OT spamming and stuff. They really try to stay on topic there. Good place though.

Troops is the BEST! I loved that thing.

oops i forgot all about that!! :( im sorry man!!

You can tell that the series is coming to an end. Everyone is dying and all the planets are being destroyed.
It is a sad thing, because Star Wars is very good, but too many characters are being killed off. I liked the older Star Wars books better, before any of this Yuuzhan Vong stuff.

Timothy Zahn rules. :)

WARNING! Spoilers!
Jania came back from the dark side. Luke & gang are starting another rebellion since the NR is basically dead. They bring back the Lusankya and kick major ass at Borleias. Jania starts to get romantically involved with Jag Fel. Pretty much sums up the latest novel.

The series isn't planned to end until sometime in 2004.

Spoiler thing appearently.... I don't think it's spoiler material though. :doubt: *black text*
NJO should get better now, since Luke & Co. have decided to, finally, fight back.
-
This isn't anything like the end of the series (Star Wars or NJO) - what they're doing (personal speculation, not spoiler) is putting the New Republic back in a situation where it's best suited to be - a Rebellion. Once again, it's a bunch of little guys fighting the big guys. The New Republic was getting too big, overgrown, beaurocratic, etc... - they had to make things smaller again, hence they *SPOILER* gave Coruscant to the Yuuzhan Vong. *END SPOILER*
Oh, and from what I've read, *SORTA SPOILER-LIKE THING*Anakin isn't dead. *END SPOILER-LIKE THING*
Now whether the execution of the above sorta spoiler-like thing is done tastefully or stupidly is a matter that will soon be determined.

You are aware of the concept of a spoiler right? NOT EVERYONE HAS READ REBEL DREAMS YET! Use the color tag with a spoiler warning dammit.

Careful you must be of anger, for it leads to hatred, hatred leads to suffering.
Also spoiler colours should be black, not bright blue so it stands out and it easy to see!

 to anyone that is still reading the thread and doesn't want spoilers.
Surprise, nearly every post so far has had spoiler content, so I don't think having one missing every once in a while should influence whether you read the thread or not. If you don't want spoilers, don't read the thread.
BTW, I haven't read the books and don't want to. I used my Is This A Good Book intuition when looking at them, and it said no. My intuition seems to have been backed up by posters on this thread.
-
I don't care about spoilers - I'll never read the books anyway. :p
(well, not in the foreseeable future...)
-
i enjoyed the series.:D
Beware spoiler.jacen didn't die he was captured and will be torutured until the Yuuzhan vong capture Jaina. ankain didn't die he was absorbed into the Force. end spoiler

Argh, You know, I used to be a an avid SW book reader. Whenever a new book came out I read it and enjoyed most of them immensly, except for "Children of the Jedi" which for some reason gave me a total headache. Anyway, I was really anticipating the New Jedi Order when it was coming out, but then when I heard *possible spoiler* that Chewie gets killed. I just gave up on them. I mean WTF! You can't do that! Whats the point?! OH well, I decided to consider the books as part of the SW universe up to, but not including, the first Jedi Order book. I tried reading them, but they're seriously rediculous. Why can't they just start writing more books that happened inbetween the previous ones? That would atleast get me reading the stuff again, instead of looking at these books that convey a story of an unstopable race that just is evil.... :headz: I say to the New Jedi Order books.
-
Wow Dark, bet you really loved FS1. ;) After all, the Shivans were "unstoppable"

Spoiler correction:
Jacen is still on the Warmaster's ship. Anakin is quite dead. He died on Mykyr (sp?) and they roasted his remains in a bonfire in "Dark Journey".
End spoiler correction.

You forget that there are people here that DO read the novels and haven't gotten a chance to read the latest ones yet so is it really that hard to show a little courtesy to them by using the color tag to hide possible spoilers? I mean, really! Just because nearly every post in this thread contains spoiler content doesn't mean you still shouldn't respect those that haven't kept up-to-date with the series.

Heh, I actually liked FS2 more! :D No it isn't that the new race is unstopable that makes me dislike the series... Its more that they're so sudden, its like they've just been suddenly thrown into to the mix without absolutely ANY prior history or anything. Like the writer was "Well, hmm, what can I come up with now?.... Oh I know, lets kill off some major charachters in order to hopefully make the readers feel fear for the heroes, so they don't know who's going to die next. Hmm, thats not enough, well ****, lets just throw the caution and basic premise of SW to the wind, and make everything a new..." Or in short "Hey, what if we wrote a series where and unstobable race all of a sudden emerges and kills everyone off, and they win!?"
And the alien menace aint the thing thats pissing me off about this new series either. Its the fact that they decided to actually kill off characters. I'm not a Star Wars freak or anything, I just liked reading the books because it advanced the story futher. And yes, to actually start killing off major characters can be an excelent tool in order to futher the story or give new life to the storyline in a whole. But my whole oppinion on it is "If it ain't broke don't fix it..."
So all in all, The Yahoo Vong ,or whoever they are, and the events that transpire when they emerge are all just a storyline that happened in an "alternate" universe. IN MY OPPINION. This is all just my own thoughts, and I don't mean to diss anyone who likes the series.
PS, I'm quite drunk to the fact that its Vappu here, and basically its when the whole country gets pissed drunk and Parties until it passes out, so I'm sorry if my writting is a bit off or I sound in any general way, bad... :D

They're hinted at in the Hand of Thrawn series. Quote:
Said by an alien officer to Mara Jade
"Foolish, complacent female...there are a thousand threats out there that would freeze your blood if you knew of them."
That's just one of many hints in the book, but the rest are spoilers.

I haven't finished FS2 yet, so I try to avoid reading posts that are called something like "Discuss the FS2 Plot." Maybe the plot that is being discussed is something I've been through already, but it's not likely, so I just don't read them.

I actually like NJO but not as much as older books.
SPOILER
I hate the way they are killing all the main characters off, though.
Oh, and yes, Children of the Jedi was bad. Very, very bad. The worst Star Wars book ever. Worse than the "Young Jedi" series.
There is one good thing about this all, though... all the books are leading up to something. In Rebel Dream, SPOILER Wedge decides to start up a new rebellion against the New Republic because it is run by a bunch of ****heads. END SPOILER. Which is nice.

He is?
Sweet.:D
So has anyone else heard rumors of another Star Wars movie to take place after Return of the Jedi? A supposed episode 7?
And why the hell do they keep calling it a trillogy!
There's more than 3!
Even Piers Anthony quit calling his Xanth novels a trilogy... And thank god too, he's up to what, 30 books now?
Amazing how something will get up and run eh?
